According to PTI, he said this: "I am a little bit worried about the Pune strip that has produced 700-plus scores. We need to have a proper look at the pitch. The BCCI's directive regarding the wicket that would be prepared for the Ranji Trophy is pretty clear. It should be a sporting wicket where a standard first-innings score should be in the region of 550-plus and it shouldn't start turning square from the first day itself." If true, it is quite shameful that the board wants 550 to be the average first-innings total in four-day games. Somebody from BCCI better deny this

I think it should be 350.

Skipper Shikhar Dhawan helped himself to a 17th half-century in Ranji Trophy in guiding Delhi to a fluent 10-wicket victory over Odisha in their league match at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground on Monday. Though a victory for Delhi looked certain, the host managed to open its points tally with a maximum of seven points, including a bonus. Dhawan and Unmukt Chand chased down the target of 82 in only 15 overs. The post-lunch session that lasted just six overs, produced 50 runs with Dhawan’s calculated assault fetching him a confidence-boosting half-century. Dhawan was on song, hitting 55 runs including a six and nine boundaries off 49 deliveries. Chand played second fiddle with a 23 dotted with four hits to the fence. Earlier, Odisha resumed its second innings at 229 for six and folded at 269, 99 minutes into the first session. Medium pacer Pawan Suyal struck three times on Monday morning to finish with a haul of five for 93. Overnight not-outs Natraj Behera and Deepak Behera resisted for six overs before Suyal struck twice in succession. Natraj edged the ball to wicketkeeper Punit Bisht and new-man Basanta Mohanty departed when Unmukt Chand accepted a low catch in the slip cordon. An upbeat Suyal deservedly took his fifth wicket with Chand completing the catch to end the 75-minute resistance of Deepak Behera. Vikas Mishra tasted success in his first over of the day to end Odisha’s innings. These are bowlers not batsmen mainly. I include all the high scoring games.. no exception there. This will hurt our domestic cricket even more.

Jadeja has a better FC batting record than DK, Chawla too has a 30+ FC average and has hit a few 100s and a number of 50s in domestic cricket! And the bolded part is absolutely correct. I hope BCCI orders an inquiry and blacklists the stadium and curator for the season. After a fabulous 1st round, going back to the old days has been fairly disappointing.

we need more pitches like were in Lahli, Ghaziabad, Eden Garden, and Ferozshah Kotla. Pitches in western part of India have been disgrace till now Mumbai, Pune, Surat all highways.

I don't like Jadeja in the ODI squad at all, but to be fair, sometimes I wonder if Sir Jaddu has been given chances in the right form of the game. Our selectors are notorious for giving the right batsmen chances in the wrong form of the game. For instance, when Rahane was picked first, it was in T20s and at that point (before his bumper IPL) he had a pathetic record. Similarly, Rohit, who has a better FC record was given countless chances in ODIs. Sir Jaddu's List A record is pretty ordinary but his FC record, even before today's 300 is very good. And even on this highway, he picked up 4 wickets and was the only bowler to walk away with respectable figures. I know it's a radical thought, but in the future, if we can find someone like Kaul or some other keeper who can play at 6, it might be worth considering Sir Jaddu at 7. And I'm saying this even though I don't particularly like Jadeja. I think he should never have been given that many chances in ODIs and T20s.

Jadeja now has a FC batting average of 51 and a FC bowling average of 28! He now has better FC batting avg than Yuvraj (45), Raina (42), Sehwag (49), Dada (44) et al. Just for comparison with all rounders, Ravi Shastri had a FC batting avg of 44 and bowling avg of 33 :)

Pitches were the major dampener as far as first two games, on a very flat track like Pune a 300 would be actually worth less then a 100 on one of the sporting tracks, even the Tam vs Kar game was a joke as bowler had no assistance at all, although saw some decent spinners in both the teams, Raju, Murugan were pretty good,Mohammed did bowl very well today got some assistance and movement from the pitch which nobody could, his faster one was around 133 but his action needs to be worked on as he can get a lot faster. Gony, Pankaj Singh, Suyal three good bowlers are topping the bowling charts, as per Prabhakars interview and what I saw on the clip Suyal has good pace, Anwar Ahmed out due to injury? where is Shami? How can you blame the pacers becoming trundlers in domestic as most wickets are completely flat,first thing our domestic cricket needs is sporting tracks , it will be more fun to watch and develop the skills for bowlers and batters also a uniform standard of pitches will give people better idea about players stats.

The ideal is that the pace bowlers learn to thrive on these flat wickets through yorkers, changes of pace, reverse swing and well aimed bouncers...but it would seem that is not happening. It takes less skill to thrive on a greentop, the ever-so-hated trundlers can thrive if the ball is seaming all over the place. The positive of flat pitches is that it allows us to see who the truly skilled bowlers are...the negative is that the answer seems to be 'no one'.
