CG Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Well be safe.I had the experience of a category 5 cyclone in 1999 and winds were up to 155mph.It destroyed everything power lines, trees ,houses and we were without power for a month. My house was undamaged as it was built well .Good thing was our We got holidays from school for 2 months and lack of power led to some intresting time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_Orissa_cyclone

urbestfriend Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Am I the only one who thinks that this Hurricane Sandy is being slighted exaggerated Yeah, I understand the situation for US people and appreciate their planning , but do not understand why Indian media is giving so much space and time for this Hurricane. From last 2-3 days, almost all channels are going gaga over Sandy as well as this is headlines in most news papers..I mean I have never seen such coverage for floods in Assam :haha:
Rohit S. Ambani Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 December 2012 End of World? Sandy storm is here, 50 million people are affected. World's best nation is on its knees in-front of nature! Similar event in India ie. 9 feet water in city. can kill lakh's due to our population density!
Rohit S. Ambani Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Isn't name of storm 'Sandy' offensive to Indians? Sandy is popular short name for kids named Sandeep etc.
Crookbond Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Obama declares Sandy as 'major disaster' in NY
Texy Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Well at least the subway system in NYC is going to be cleaner

Whats the need for so much coverage in India? Same thing happened when few channels broadcasted, live, the us presidential debate. I mean, wtf? I think more people would have watched the debate in India than US...lol.

It's wouldn't be due to population density, it would be due to lack of planning, intelligence and 'chalta hai' attitude of the higher circles of Indian ruling class. I'm going to lose it if I see one more excuse to India mediocrity due to population.
yoda Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 It costs a ton of money for this 'preparation'. US was estimated to lose $10B on this storm per day even if damages were minimal.
Sachin=GOD Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 No power since 9 pm last night. India ki yaad aagayi hogi :D
