Shame: In last 16 months only 4 Indians made their Test debut, Aus had 11, SA had 6!!

Shambles from Selectors Since the 0-4 debacle in England last year, only four players made their debuts fo India. Compared to other teams in "transition" and stable teams this rather low for a team on its knees for the last 12 months. Some real ugly issues going on between BCCI, Selectors and Dhoni. debutt.jpg

Forget what happens off the field, before and after the match, I'm surprised that this batting has been failing consistently and there has been no change even in the batting order. In Kolkata 2001, Laxman was sent at no 3 in 2nd inning while he batted at no 5(?) in first. Since he had already batted for while in first inning, sending him again after 15-20 mins helped him a lot. Why hasn't this team tried anything yet? Like they could have sent Sehwag at 5 or Gambhir at 3, Ashwin at no 5. When nothing is working then at least try different things. How long can you try same set of proven failures? There hasn't been much change in strategy either. Like attacking spinners or pacers right from start, anything? It seems that this team just goes there and gets lost. Don't they get frustrated with failing consistently? What is captain, coach and think tank doing? They are compete :fail:

how many bowlers' date=' how many batsmen?[/quote'] Zero batsmen. This in itself points to something rather nasty when picking the team. Debutants after England debacle (where India failed to go past 300 in 8 innings): Aaron, Ashwin, Yadav, and Vinay.

Another question is, if BCCI are so unconcerned about Tests then why aren't they experimenting more with the Test team. I can understand BCCI doing it's best to ensure ODI team attracts maximum audience and have all the "star" players playing, but surely there have been plenty of signals in the last few years from BCCI stating they aren't too fussed about the survival of Tests and Indian Test team. So why are BCCI and selectors so conservative with the Test team selections?

The argument doesn't make any sense. How many people made debuts is irrelevant when the people making the debuts have a> not managed to hold their position.. and b> is irrelevant because the debut may reflect displacement of seniors by juniors in the natural course of way, which hasn't happened with the Indian team for a while.. but is desperately due by now.

Not defending BCCI or the selectors here but the stat may be misleading. I am assuming the 4 guys are Yadav,Ashwin,Aaron and Vinay I mean what about guys like Vijay,Kohli,Mukund,Raina,Pujara,P.K,Undakat,Mithun and some more names I might be missing making their debut in and around the same time, maybe within a year before the filter date?

Manoj Tiwary, rahane, rohit sharma combined total of 0 test matches. Suresh raina=17. Some of these player might have flopped but the selectors have refused to make difficult decisions and kept recycling players from the ODI squad like yuvi and raina so they could avoid controversy. Pujaras debut series was also delayed. That is the biggest reason why India is paying for it now.

Interesting List that: Kohli, Mukund, PK - debuted 18 months back in the WI series Unadkat - two years back in the SA series Pujara - debuted more than 2 years back against Aus in India Raina, Mithun - debuted 2 and half years back in the SL series Vijay - debuted 4 years back against Aus in India
