There are other coaches like Darren Lehmann whose team Queensland are consistently on top of Shield(4 day competition in Aus) for the last 3 years, but has done zilch in IPL. Even he could be considered Bhaisaab I'm not saying Dada is our only hope. He is a worthy contendor based on his role as captain when we were in the dumps at the turn of the century. I'll be happy when a good coach/captain can lead us back on track with or without Dada.

Because his recent experience in leading/mentoring a side is only IPL. He can still coach his state side in Ranji. I am sure there will be no contest if he decides to. Is he interested?

My support for Ganguly is based on his captaincy record which was a very challenging role in that time period. Its not that I want just him, I'll be just as glad to have Kumble in that role or some worthwhile candidate from elsewhere. The criticism of his favoritism & ego etc are warranted, and I believe that there's more to gain than lose in the current scenario from his role as coach. What is grossly unfair is citing his IPL record to judge him for the top seat.

I doubt he will be selected as the coach. It's my guess that it will go to a foreigner once Duncan Dada goes .. Bengal actually won the Vijay Hazare Trophy under Ganguly last year. Having said so, Ganguly should not become coach of India. His big ego will clash with the big egos of the Indian legends, and will result in a disastrous mess. We need an unassuming, Dravid-like guy as coach.

And with the situation we are in, everyone who is not part of team looks good, be it players or coaches or selectors. And talking about the criticism, every single player captain has been criticised for favoritism & ego. I dont agree with it completely, its a fan/media created stories out of bias for their certain favourite players. But I disagree that its unfair to cite IPL record to judge him as Coach/mentor when that is the only substantial thing he has done recently.

Isn't this the right time to not let massive egos develop in the first place with the best of seniors (except a subdued God) retired and others (Sehwag/Gambhir etc) competing for a place with the younger generation ?

If a new non India coach is needed we need a young coach who has played Int cricket not too long ago someone like Kirsten.

He's far too predictable. The only positive I can see is - Ganguly and Kohli are a group of firebrand people who perhaps think along the same lines and may end up being a good coach-captain combo. But that means the team will be divided into two groups - Ganguly, Kohli and chamchas on one side and the old warhorses group - Dhoni, Gambo, Viru etc (people about to be kicked out) on the other.
