rkt.india Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Rahane opens the batting with Jaffer on the Mumbai team and did so in the Irani Cup. When did you see him open for Mumbai?
Vivek.S.123 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Our top 7 should be: 1. Virender Sehwag 2. ? 3. Cheteshwar Pujara 4. Sachin Tendulkar 5. Ajinkya Rahane 6. Virat Kohli 7. MS Dhoni
vishalvirsingh Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Jaffer hit the ROI attack which had Sreesanth.....ishwar pandey the bowler some say is ready to leapfrog even Shammi and Dinda........and the Mithun. So I think he is definitely better than Vijay by leaps n bound and as good as dhawan.......but his age and his fielding went against him and I respect selectors decision as He is definitely an Average fielder and a weak fielder at international level....... Dhawan is a better fielder than Vijay possibly......
skindia Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 jadeja should open with sehwag...he can make triple hundreds
Sidhoni Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Bhai' date= e ka a karke aapne poore post ka naksha ki badal diya :hysterical:
NareshK Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Harbhajan Singh set to play 100th Test Harbhajan Singh is all set to become the 10th Indian to play 100 Tests after he was confirmed in the XI for the Chennai Test. The landmark Test will come against Harbhajan's favourite opposition, Australia, and at a venue where 12 years ago he applied the finishing touches to one of the greatest turnarounds in Test history, finishing off as joint Man of the Series against Australia. Harbhajan has taken 408 wickets from 99 Tests at an average of 32.27 and a strike-rate of 68.1. Since India's tour of England in 2011, Harbhajan has mostly been out of the Test side. In the last 20 months or so, he has played just one Test, which India lost to England in Mumbai. "It's a big game," Harbhajan said. "[The previous] 99 are gone. Obviously a bit nervous but I am sure I will be fine. I have faced these situations before. "I have gone through times when I was not doing well or when I was doing well and got too excited. These things happen. Bit nervous to start with, but I will be fine. Once I get away with 100, we will see what needs to be done to play another 50-odd. Probably I will have to work even harder." http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/current/story/605773.html
shuraim Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 average 32 .strike rate 68 ,no offense but i think he is the first to 100th test with those numbers among bowlers?
G_B_ Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 probably is shuraim i guess the key question is, will india play 3 spinners? it means that Rahane will come in at 6 than Jadeja
NareshK Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 probably is shuraim i guess the key question is, will india play 3 spinners? it means that Rahane will come in at 6 than Jadeja Yeah, that will likely be the combination. Ashwin, Ojha, Bhajji and one of Ishant or BK with Rahane at 6.
ravishingravi Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Sehwag abhi yehi chewtiyapa karne ke liye reh gaya hai.
shuraim Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 probably is shuraim i guess the key question is, will india play 3 spinners? it means that Rahane will come in at 6 than Jadeja thanks,i think abate rayudu would have been good at no.6 like vvs a free flowing stroke maker.?
G_B_ Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Ishant will play IMO I have never liked the philosophy of 3 spinners. Both Ashwin and bhajji are right are off spinners. Ojha is a left armer. I can somewhat understand if Chawla is played as he is a leg spinner. In a test match Bhajji and Ojha can bowl about 50 overs between them leaving Kumar/Dinda and Ishant to bowl 20 overs each. There is no point playing two similar bowlers in bhajji and ashwin. (the carom ball has lost its element of surprise)
Sidhoni Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 So he is confirmed! Are we gonna play 4 spinners then(Bhajji, Ash, Ojha and Jaddu)?
G_B_ Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 thanks' date='i think abate rayudu would have been good at no.6 like vvs a free flowing stroke maker.?[/quote'] i sort of agree there as well. Rahane has never really batted with the tail and is more of a grafter who bats in the top order. We tried Pujara at 6 and it did not work out and he did not know how to bat with the tail.
India-KXIP fan Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 average 32 .strike rate 68 ' date='no offense but i think he is the first to 100th test with those numbers among bowlers?[/quote'] Average below 30 against the two biggest teams of his time SA and Aus. No offense to Kumble but is he a bit of a minnow bully? (Above 30 for both) :giggle: Anyway grats to Harbhajan, big game player. Unlike many other high wicket taking spinners a few batsmen in his highest dismissed list were top class not average/lower order batsmen. A world class bowler although a bit inconsistent against chit teams. On his day Bhaji can get anyone out. And against Australia at home he has a fantastic record. Deserves his spot after recent few FC matches too, we all know he has ability, just needed to show some form.

A world class bowler although a bit inconsistent against chit teams. On his day Bhaji can get anyone out. And against Australia at home he has a fantastic record. Deserves his spot after recent few FC matches too, we all know he has ability, just needed to show some form. thats cause kumble has played more matches against SA and Aus away from home for eg Kumble has played 10 test matches in australia averaging 37 with the ball. Bhajji has played 4 matches in Australia averaging 72 with the ball. If bhajji does tour australia with India he will averge more than kumble v australia. Plus hardly a minnow basher. Kumble has an overall average of 30.5 v Aus and Bhajji has an overall average of 29.5 v Aus and what about England home and away? :--D If you take SA Aus and England together Kumble averages less than bhajji with the ball.
G_B_ Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 also like to point out that Kumble has played the majority of his test matches away from India (63 home and 69 away) bhajji has played the majority of his matches in India (53 home 46 away) Kumble averages less than Bhajji home and away http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/30176.html?class=1;template=results;type=bowling http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/29264.html?class=1;template=results;type=bowling the only reason why bhajji has a lower (fractionally lower mind you) average v SA and Aus overall is because he has not played them away enough compared to playing them at home. Bhajji averages more with the ball than Kumble home and away v these sides but his % of away matches with a higher bowler average is less, hence a higher % of home matches allows Bhajji to appear to have a lower average
King Khan Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Great achievment Bhajji, now make worthy than a pity from selectors.
vamos_rafa Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Kumble a minnoa basher :hysterical: :hysterical: These kids I tell you.
