seedhi Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 You understand that your benchmark is - not guilty until proven for X' date=' for any person in the country. It is rather not - "not guilty as a mass murderer" ONLY, right?[/quote']Personally, for me a person is definitely Not Guilty if the person is investigated by an independent investigative agency which is not under his/her influence or control in any way, monitored by the Courts, interrogated by by the agency and then a conclusion absolving him/her of the accusations is arrived at by the agency.

However, what if it does not fall under what you have said? What would be your stand - guilty/not guilty/unsure?

But if I arrive at strong personal opinion guilty/not guilty I would try to apply whatever benchmark/reasoning I use uniformly.

Thanks - I just want to understand your benchmark and your reasoning makes sense. So, now since you are uncertain on the person - what do you when it comes to commenting on matters on that person?
Tiger80 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Is this thread about Kamalnath? The same old stupidity. Instead of discussing Modi, bring in everyone under the sun from Narasimha Rao to Rajiv Gandhi to Kamalnath from his bhakts as if counting the crimes of others makes Modi any less of a killer. No this thread is not about Kamalnath, but even if there is one ,I really doubt anybody will remember his role in 1984 riots And No I am not Modi Bhakt,I just believe that he is the right man to lead India. With development he can save the lives of millions of poor people. If mass murderer of earlier riots , dreaded criminals, enjoyed and are still enjoying power then why only to single out Modi?
ganeshran Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 No matter what Modi fans or detractors say, there is a next to zero chance of BJP coming to power with Modi as the prime ministerial candidate. Elections are ultimately a game of numbers, and in the states where BJP doesn't have a presence, Modi will drive the allies away and polarize the Muslim vote. Without UP, Bengal, Kerala, Delhi, Andhra seats, the numbers simply don't add up. Congress's strategy is to keep Modi in the spotlight with continuous attacks, and force BJP to reveal its cards as to who will the prime ministerial candidate be. Not only the minority but a large section of the majority also sees Modi role in the riots to at least that of deliberately turning the other way during the riots if not actively instigating them. Unless the majority is polarized (by way of widespread communal riots or the Advani rath yatra like situation), Modi is not coming to power.
BeautifulGame Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Anyone doesn't see the tragedy here ? A state govt tries to bring investment and the Central govt suggests Fascism as the order of the day ? Isn't that a new low for the deshbhakt Congress ? And when Congress tries to bring FDI in retail to boost economy what was the response of Modi and BJP? A new low for progressive Hindutva? Both BJP and Congress have exactly same policies on everything except so called secularism which the congress is damn good at exploiting for votes. Apart from that only reason their views differ is depended upon whether ruling or opp party
SLICKR392 Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 We have got a Mussolini and now a Hitler. :giggle:
Clarke Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 And when Congress tries to bring FDI in retail to boost economy what was the response of Modi and BJP? A new low for progressive Hindutva? It was a low for BJP, no doubt about it. When the NDA was considering promoting FDI in its term, MMS was against it. Disgusting politics as usual from both sides. This one went a bit further since it intended to scare off the domestic investors as well. The comparison to the Nazis was an absolute low. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, thousands of kids die every single day due to malnutrition in our country. Should we hold the govt accountable for their inaction, especially in letting grains rot across the country ? In some respect, I do hold them responsible. Despite that, would it help if the opposition brought the comparisons to Pol Pot or other mass murderers ? For all their faults, I wouldn't refer to Soniaji that way, forget our PM.
ravishingravi Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 So when exactly are the Amreekan desis planning to leave their chosen nation or stop paying any tax dollars towards the state which has killed innocent women and children in Afghanistan and Iraq. I won't even go into the rich heritage of US of A. No I am kidding before you jump on the keyboard. But one can't help but laugh at the bleeding hearts who somehow support atrocities of state of Israel ( atleast some of those ) or USA but want Modi 's head because they want it. So, all the due process of law goes out of the window now. So basic position remains, I know because I know and even I don't know I want it, therefore it should happen, screw the position of law. My position is he should be executed by the State, if proven guilty. Not really sure what positions there is to take here or what to argue. Manish Tewari is allowing a Hitler to function in his state. Not sure who is supposed to be culprit here.

So, all the due process of law goes out of the window now. They cry about the genocides that suit them, attaching more value to lives of a particular creed, religion and ethnicity. How else do you explain uproar on one genocide but complete silence on another? The worst part is, these supposedly educated "intellectuals" - I use that term loosely for lack of a better alternative - hide behind their supposed educational qualifications when challenged. The people of Gujarat being told to elect who should rule them by those hiding in New York/New Jersey who at the same time, are passive approvers of the genocidal acts committed by their own government. Land of the free, home of the brave indeed!
Raghav_12 Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I myself don't like Narendra Modi much because of his too authoritative style which I believe is not very democratic, yet I can't expect Congressmen to pull Modi down for Gujrat Riots. Following Gujrat riots there have been around 249 convictions with once close aide of Modi, Maya Kodnani, who was a minister as well, getting a jail term of 28 years, which is severe punishment but not unjustified looking at the charges. On the other hand I never heard any big name being convicted for Sikh riots where loss of human life was greater than Gujrat. In sounds funny that with such history Congress dares to call Modi murderer, Hitler and what not. However, in any case Modi hardly stands any chance of becoming PM of India as with him being projected as PM candidate BJP will get further alienated. I myself don't think that he should be NDA candidate for PM.
dial_100 Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Yup. Hitler indeed. And those men and women travelling in the train were all nazis. They all deserved to be burnt alive. They were all following hitler after all. This is all for that stupid structure. Really? like for those bricks and stones? I wished people had not touched that structure, at least thousands of innocent lives would have been saved. The only people who benefitted from this whole babri incidence are the ones ruling the country right now, we call them saints.
