I know India and Pakistan were playing after a gap of 3 years at that time, but that's all. It wasn't even a semi final or a final. Sachin's 98 off 75 balls was good, but Wasim and Waqar were not the same bowlers they used to be!

maniac Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 It was big because we already acheived 3-0 against pak 92,96,99 at that point and we wanted to see if we can get another hatrick of WC victories so there was immense pressure on us. Also we knew that we would lose to the Aussies,so technically that was like a final for us :winky:

Definitely the first game after the attack on our parliament which nearly bought to the brink of war.The border tension was high in the lead up months to the World Cup . Naturally huge pressure was build upon the game. I still remember sachin saying after the match that he had sleepless nights for months leading upto the game. I don't think it has anything to do with cricket imo

Pakistan were never the same team again after this match... like how Miandad's six off Chetan Sharma shifted the tide towards Pakistan to be precise
