You have to judge batsmen based on their overall record and not by 1 or 2 innings. He has done well in Ranji this season and that's the most one can do when it comes to getting selected for national side. I think he will bat much better in 2nd innings if he gets the chance.

He is a good domestic player, that is why he is getting so many chances. Most players in his place will not get as many chances to prove themselves. He has really not made good use of the numerous opportunities that have come his way and continues to flop in big matches when bowling sides are competitive. He flopped during the A tour also.

PBN Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Classy innings by Sachin. Rahane also played well and deservers the number 6 spot. Rohit Sharma got bogged down by pressure of not scoring. Instead of taking singles in the gaps, he went for an outrageious shot. Dhawan squandered yet another opportunity to impress the selectors. These half centuries won't do if he's to break into the Indian team. Harbhajan bowled quite a few maidens and built the pressure to extract false strokes from the batsmen. Bowled ok on a track not conducive for spin bowling. Though I wonder at times if he knows which field sets work in his advantage and the line that he bowls at times. Even after all these years, there is still room for improvement in the way that he sets fields to extract wickets. Many a times, there seems to be lack of planning involved in setting up the batsman or the optimum way to get the wicket. Many of his deliveries come onto the bat very nicely and he definitely needs to add a floater delivery that stops on the batsman. Such obvious things to work out and I wonder how fellow or former players don't have a talk with him. All it takes is simple video analysis and the areas to improve.

This is depressing for someone considered to be the future of Indian batting. Big inswinger, he leaves it alone without covering the stumps. Misses the stumps by about six inches. That would have been embarrassing

Cevno Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I like Rayudu. Always have. Was hailed as a star almost like Unmukt Chand from his u19 days. Had a good start to Ranji career too, but didn't get a breakthrough in the first 2 seasons and then fell off and his form just dipped big time. Then after being ignored for a few seasons he left for the ICL. Since he came back, he has been doing well again shifting to Baroda but gets ignored sometimes maybe due to the ICL connection. He is a better bet for tests than Tiwary easily.
