I disagree with 2 & 3 ... but Ponting and Border are in their right places.

Waugh pretty much had warne and Mcgrath at their best but Taylor got them in an inexperienced version. Waugh's team did dominate a lot but that was also due to an excellent team. With the same team I believe Taylor would have done a lot better.

In series terms, he lost 7 series, won 2of them (vs NZ and SL) and drew 2 of them vs India. Would have got fired if he was an Indian captain, perhaps a close relation with the ACB chief saved his captaincy :P

Not 100 sure though

Was really not a good captain from 1984 to about 1989, last few years up to 1994 he was better, no doubt, but Taylor was tactically a much better captain. Waugh was over aggressive, to the max, didnt always work, but was glorious when it did. Ponting, who obviously is hated beyond belief on this forum, is a MUCH better captain that is given credit for, which is contrary to most peoples opinions. In general, i think captaincy is the most overrated aspect in cricket. All of sudden Dhoni is a good captain because he won a test? No chance, he is hopeless. Captain is only as good as his cattle. So many matches are turned by outstanding innings or bowling that has zero to do with the captain. I thought Clive Lloyd was average as captain, not much to do but rotate the 4 amazing quicks all day, for 20 years, LOL. Captaincy is something best done behind closed doors i think.

Taylor's hunches and intuitions were amazing. I was watching the video you posted of Lara getting caught at a weird fielding position (short mid on or something like that). I can't think of anyone close to that level of gut and intuition in the modern day cricket. As far as the highlighted goes, time and again have mentioned this but people with personal agenda will want to make us beleiver otherwise.

I recall this funny incident where he had shown his authority to Craig M'cDermott :-) On that occasion Border yelled after his paceman: “Don’t walk away from me or you’ll be on the next plane home.”
