Kashmir: terrorists dressed as cricketers attack CRPF camp, kill 5 jawans
Militants disguised as cricketers killed five paramilitary police in an ambush in Srinagar on Wednesday, officials said, in the deadliest attack for nearly five years. Two gunmen from the local pro-Pakistan group Hizbul Mujahideen, which claimed the attack, were shot dead after related stories Hizbul Mujahideen claims responsibility for Srinagar attack Terrorists who attacked CRPF 'probably from Pakistan': RK Singh the assault on a playing field in the Bemina district of Srinagar that is home to a police school and barracks. A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the extremists pretended to be joining children for a game of cricket before taking out automatic weapons from a bag and throwing a grenade. "They first mixed up with the children playing cricket," said the officer, who was not authorised to speak to the media. Four civilians were also injured, said a police statement. The Kashmir News Network (KNS), a Srinagar-based news agency, reported receiving a call from a Hizbul Mujahideen spokesman who claimed the "guerilla attack" and said others would follow. Home secretary RK Singh told reporters that up to four men might have been involved and the dead gunmen appeared "not local but from across the border" in Pakistan. Wednesday's deaths marked the deadliest single day for security forces since July 2008 when a landmine killed nine soldiers on a bus on the outskirts of Srinagar. Kashmir has been tense since the execution in February of a local separatist over a deadly 2001 attack on the Parliament in Delhi. Mohammed Afzal Guru was convicted over the attack. Much of Kashmir has since been put under curfew repeatedly while protests and strikes have disrupted daily life. Separatists called a strike on Wednesday and a 24-year-old man taking part in a protest to demand the return of Guru's body to Kashmir was shot dead by police in Srinagar, a source at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences hospital said. Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah had argued recently that the government should withdraw emergency laws that give security forces in Kashmir near-complete legal immunity. The attack will likely undermine his campaign, which he sees as necessary to defuse local resentment about human rights abuses and heavy-handed policing by the hundreds of thousands of troops in the region. Attacks in Srinagar have become rare in recent years with violence across the region at its lowest level since the insurgency began in 1989, boosting the vital local tourism industry. More than 47,000 people have died in the fighting by an official count while local rights groups estimate up to 70,000 have lost their lives. The Hizbul Mujahideen, one of the biggest militant groups locally, fights for the transfer of Kashmir to Pakistan. Last October, gunmen opened fired on a popular hotel, killing a bellboy. In May 2004, 28 troopers and their relatives were killed in a blast carried out by Hizbul militants in southern Kashmir.

Another act of terror in India. Indian government has completely failed to tackle terror.
Yeah if we had not escorted terrorists under state protection to freedom under the previous government Jaish e Muhammad would not have existed at the very least.

Yeah, because that is the only terrorist organization ever to attack india, and only one dude who was released is important. Not 50 other terrorist organizations

Under attack for state order that saw CRPF men killed, Omar skips ceremony held in martyrs' honour
In an insult to the slain jawans of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who sacrificed their lives securing Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah did not bother to show up to honour them at a wreath laying ceremony in Srinagar on Thursday. Abdullah's absence from the wreath laying ceremony was being seen as his political move to satisfy people who want security forces to leave the valley or their powers be curtailed by withdrawing Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA).
Slamming the government over its diktat, leading lawyer Harish Salve said on Thursday that the order to paramilitary forces to disarm was prima facie illegal. "CRPF has its own Act and own chain of command. I don't think Jammu and Kashmir Police has powers to act in this way," Salve said, adding, "Yes, the police can only take such steps in a specific mob situation." "The police cannot tell CRPF to simply drop arms... We have paid a price for such an order. This needs to be resolved at the earliest. Forces are working at cross purposes. God be with Jammu and Kashmir if this is how they will function," he said. Earlier in the day, the Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party and the BJP demanded the chief minister's resignation as they raised the issue in the assembly.

CRPF aren't allowed to do their duty. Police is corrupt and pro secessionists. And they want the army out. ********on ne chewtiya samajh rakha hai. Massive cleanup is required for this country to move forward. Plain and simple.

Yes we have always been inept, but that one incident is different from all others cause we did it to spare the lives of Indian citizens. Debatable but excusable in my book.

The only difference is, "This" has ruled India for more than 50 years and "That" has ruled for less than 9 years.

I guess you are wrong completely here. Kashmir was most peaceful during BJP rule. Not evne a single stone pelting incident. Even Kashmiri seperatist and Pakistanis also say that Vajpayee was very near to the solution of Kashmir issue and then unfortunately 2004 happened and Sikander - E - Azam, Shehenshah Manmohan came to power.

First, credible sources which show Kashmir was most peaceful during BJP at the centre. The events with Kargil paint an entirely different picture. Second, How can you attribute that solution to one man or one party? It could be a mere correlation and not causation. Third, what did Manmohan Singh do the solution? It again could be a mere correlation.

This is like arguing unemployment under Bush was generally lesser than under Obama, hence Bush did a better job. Topics like economics & national security cannot be narrowed down to a single set of statistics, not that I need to tell you that fact. Besides, what's this defense for the INC from a bunch of members ? Nareshk simply says Indian govt has failed to tackle terror, why does not feel the urge to defend the monarchy here unless ofcourse you're paid for it ?
