Muloghonto Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Pretty obvious if you ask me. As a batsman, Sanga. As a keeper, Dhoni. Sanga was a good ol 'first slipper turned into wiket keeper' experiment, ala Dravid. Helped that he'd kept at kids level. Does not make him a keeper.
vamos_rafa Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Tests- Sangakara hands down. ODIs- Well depends, what role you want. Sangakara is a far far more accomplished bat, but Dhoni's the ultimate finsher.

Muloghonto Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 ODIs - It is Phoni hands down. Guy is going to go down as the best ODI player ever. He can. If he does another 100 ODIs at this rate, then i say move over Tendu and Richards, here is Dhoni as #1 alltime. But as it stands now, he is one of the top 10 ODI bats ever and an automatic consideration for alltime ODI world team alongside Gillchrist (due to the fact that Gilly opened, it does make him fit around differently than Dhoni).

He will retire from tests to focus on ODIs. Watch. He wants to be considered as the ATG.
Junyfan Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 sanga is great test batsman ,no comparison(he does not keep)
Pagalpanti Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Test - Sanga OD - Dhoni Both better than each other by miles in the respective formats
vvvslaxman Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 ofcourse whingakkara in tests. He is a good test batsman.
I6MTW Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Dhoni is a better keeper in both formats. Tests: Sanga ODI: Dhoni.
Crookbond Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 In terms of stumper I think Dhoni wins hands down.
Sidhoni Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Dhoni wins without any doubt in ODIs. And in tests, Sangakarra isn't a WKB so he doesn't qualify if you are comparing two wicket keepers.
Number Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 If you are comparing Sanga the batsman with Dhoni then lol.
Executioner Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Sangakkara as a batsman is much better than Dhoni. Sangakkara is one of the best Test batsman of all time, Dhoni on the other hand is ordinary in tests. In ODIs, Dhoni is the better player and has an average of 50. High average is a courtesy of not-outs but still an excellent finisher Dhoni is. Sangakkara has a near 40 average in ODIs so not a big margin in ODIs. In T20s, sangakkara is slightly better than Dhoni as he has had some noticable performances in the T20 WCs. If you ask me, who is the better WK-batsman, then i will go with Dhoni who is a regular and brilliant keeper who can bat as well. If you ask me about batsman, then sanga wins hands down
carnish Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Sangakkara ... better batsman overall. ODIs .... Dhoni wins but not by a huge margin Tests... I wont say ... people know it already.
