Dhawan's Footwork Has Heavily Improved Just watched some highlights of when he played in the Windies in the ODIs when he was rooted to the crease. There is a marked difference in they way Dhawan moves his feet. In this innings he is not slogging at all but simply getting into a good position to dispatch the ball to the boundary. I have to eat humble pie. Its a fantastic innings from him and one i did not think he had in him. More than an innings by a hack. I still think he is a hand eye co ordination guy similar to sehwag, but this innings show that he has added the footwork dimension to his game. Still think he is not the solution for SA but its good to see a player make technical improvements to his game.

Agree. But, atleast he's scoring here as opposed to Sehwag who can only score in the "jodu-todu" cement add. Its nice to have competition at the top of the order. If Sehwag-gambhir can score runs in domestic/county then it would be nice. Also, these new players should go to A tours and hone their games.

well he is not a technically perfect player. He never was. Neither IMO is Vijay. They dont have the classic technique of a Pujara. The point is though, Dhawan has worked on his game. He is batting out of the crease v the pacers and using his feet well even to balls which are 80 plus. I like to see batsman improving their game using their brain. Maybe if Gambhir can work on his game and avoid going for the ball outside the off stump and getting caught we might have a healthy competition for an opener.

Sehwag was IMO heavily reliant on hand eye coordination. Once that went he was always going to struggle down the order.
