Which players are going to be in our reserves? Assuming we will carry one backup WK, one backup spinner, one/two backup pacers and two backup batsmen. There are some choices : WK : Saha/DK Spinner : Ojha/Jadeja Pacers : Depends on who plays really, any one of BK/Shami/Yadav/Zak and the other depends on who the selectors pick. Maybe Pandey or Unadkat. Batsmen : Rayudu? Jiwanjot? Juneja? Will be really interesting to see who is picked out of these.

I think it would be suicidal to bat dhoni 6 and include Jadeja. There is being brave and then there is bwing suicidal Our main concern overseas and particulary in SA is our batting. So to weaken our batting to strengthen bowling is fool hardy. Frankly Jadeja will be walking wicket in SA and Dhoni wont score big either. Must go in with 6 front line batters and Dhoni at 7. Then 3 seamers and 1 spinner(Ashwin). At home maybe Dhoni 6 and also Jadeja is valid option but overseas must have 6 front line batsman. We have unproven team and players. Lets not be too clever in our first overseas tour with next generation, give them a chance FFS

And I tell you one thing. The saffies are not going to prepare batsman friendly tracks. Number 1 and 2 clashing, they will be desperate to beat us. Their strength is their seam bowling and they feel our weaknees is our batters against pace. They are going to produce tracks which do everything to help steyn and co. We need full 6 batsman and Dhoni at 7. Frankly even in windies series against we saw value of 6 proper bats, with contributions of Rohit at 6 and the Ashwin saving us a few times at 8. I feel Ashwin at 8 saving our **** is needed

I would play two spinners even in SA as both are almost all-rounders in tests and in this way , play five bowlers overall.If any of the spinner all-rounders underperform , replace them with Pragyan Ojha 1. In my view it will be suicidal to play 2 spinners in the XI, either we need a extra batsman or seamer. In SA conditions making runs against spinners is easier than with pacers so if 2spinners are played one of them will be underbowled.

The one thing that makes a good bowler lethal is the natural length, Shami has that slightly fuller length with a good short one and also gets zip of the wicket, this is where Umesh needs to learn from Shami, Aaron is slightly better as he pitches fuller,tall bowler who get more bounce rarely except for McGrath don't get many wickets, you want bowler with a natural length that will trouble batters, even BK has that but needs a bit more pace to be an attacking option

Ishant surely hits the deck hard when he bowls short and wide and even the ball hits the ground hard when it goes over the boundary line.
