This was some poor stuff from GG It is quite evident that Indian players priotorize IPL ahead of national commitments but dont want to be too harsh. Why wouldnt one be interested to play in a T20 tournament with full crowds, big money, big players coming in from everywhere. Any Indian player would want to be involved. International cricket these days lack crowd, fan following, etc.

Lets not make conspiracy theories. The IPL starts on the 3rd of April and the fourth test ends on the 26th of March there is nearly a week. Somebody like Gambhir will be more than up for getting his place back in the Indian test team. India fans are way off the mark when they say that the IPL is where the big money is. The really big money is in endorsements which comes from playing for team India in all formats.

Real representation will be if Gambhir is booed in stadiums around India during IPL or international matches. Whilst the dude has a genuine reason this time, Gambhir has previous in putting money ahead of country (playing through injury for his IPL team in 2011 because of which he missed a full Test series) so let's be spared the whole "he is a hero because of what he did in 2009-2011" shtick. His efforts in Tests in 2009-10 and the World Cup final are much appreciated but he has also gotten a lot of fame and riches on the back of it. Doesn't mean we have to keep bowing down to him even when he keeps failing after that, misses Tests to play IPL and justifies his third rate performances by making pathetic justifications like "centuries aren't important, Veeru and I are the best" etc.
