^ Well said. The way I look at the McGrath - Tendulkar rivalry is just through two test series : the '99-'00 in Australia and '01 in India. In the two series, both were fit and pretty much at top of their games. Tendulkar put up a great performance in the two series and so did McGrath. McGrath might have had the edge because Tendulkar never scored freely off him, but that did not stop Tendulkar from putting up big scores in the series. As I said above these head to head statistics are so out of context they make no sense. Tendulkar's job was to score against Australia - not McGrath - he did. McGrath's job was to dismiss India cheaply - not Tendulkar - he did. Both succeeded in their goals.

You strength can be your weakness too. His overconfidence. He tries to take on bowlers too much and that leads to his downfall more often than not. I don't think he has done justice to his ability yet. He struggles against moving ball too and everyone knows about his struggle against left arm spinners

That is a bouncer and as I said your strength can be a weakness. Pieterson's strength is dominating bowlers using his reach and height and that can be his downfall to, especially when you dont expect things like this. Even Vinay Kumar has bounced out KP, but it does not mean he weak at it. People are misunderstanding when I said Mcgrath's strength was bounce. It was extra bounce he used to get from good length, not bouncer. Extra bounce with accuracy is tough to deal with especially for a short batsman.

Firstly their strike rate is nowhere in the ballpark of Sehwag. Secondly, the number of influential innings they have played in comparison to Sehwag are lesser. If Sehwag's average sucks in South Africa, how much has Pietersen averaged there? At least Sehwag has a century there. What about Pakistan? Both Cook and Pietersen were made to look ordinary by Pakistan in UAE as well as Pakistan. Sehwag has a stranglehold on Pakistan - has b!tchslapped them so many times.

Both Pietersen and Sehwag average the same in SA. Sehwag has played 8 Test matches while Pietersen has played 4.

Tendulkar was in very good form in that series. But no a single soul put up his hand in 1999 series bar Laxman in the last test. 3 pitches that helped seamers. But Dravid pwned by Warnie there.

Rest simply made up the numbers - Ramesh, Devang Gandhi (worst opener I've seen IMO), Jacob Martin, Kanetkar etc. Out of the top 3 Dravid couldn't do much against Warne & McGrath and it all came down to Tendulkar and he got 3 rough decisions out of 6 times he came in to bat. Once it was shoulder before the wkt, one time has given caught short leg against Warner when he didn't hit it and there was a 3rd time when he copped a bad decision as well. That series it almost looked like Aussies wanted to get Tendulkar off the field no matter what.
