MCcricket Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Boy,he is really quick! 18-Year-Old Ahmedabad Lad Jaspreet Bumrah Is Making Waves With His Express Speed Ajit Bezbaruah I TNN Ahmedabad: Hey guys, this boy is quick and when I say quick,I really mean it.If at 18,someone can bowl at close to 140kmph,he has to be a special talent, said Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) U-19 coach Rajiv Desai. He was referring to GCA's new find Jaspreet Bumrah,a right-arm medium,or should one call 'fast',bowler who has created waves in the three matches he played for Gujarat in the Cooch Behar Trophy this season. That most of his victims are either bowled, caught in the slips or behind the wicket is a proof that he has pace. Jaspreet's first victim against Saurashtra on Saturday was bowled. The batsman was beaten by sheer pace. The batsmen didn't have a clue about how it went through. The next one was also bowled on the very next delivery.Four of his victims were bowled on that day, three were caught behind and one was caught at second slip,"said Chetan Mankad, the stand-in coach for Gujarat in the Gujarat-Saurashtra match,as Desai had to attend a private function in the family. Mankad added,Jaspreet is not only quick but also bowls the yorker and bouncer very effectively which is a very good sign for a fast bowler. "He also can move the ball either way but his incoming delivery is his best weapon,"said Desai. A first-year student of HK Commerce College in Ahmedabad,Jaspreet, however,is a little deceptive as far as his run up or open-chested action is concerned because he doesn't have a long run-up or possesses a big leap or anything of that sort. "He is about 5'11,has a smooth run-up,comes in very smoothly and uses his wrist to good effect,"said Kishore Trivedi, his coach at the Nirman High School Cricket Coaching Centre. "I saw Munaf Patel when he first arrived at the cricket scene and I had predicted then that the boy would one day play for India.Today,I won't hesitate to say the same of this boy,Jaspreet. With proper guidance,he will be a cricketer the world would love to watch and adore,"added Desai. And what does the boy himself think about all the hype that has surrounded him suddenly "Yeah ! I can bowl a bit fast and this is my first season in the district and also in the state. The going has been good so far and I don't think too much about what lies ahead,I just want to keep on performing on a day-to-day basis,"said Jaspreet just as a matter of fact. So,let the ball do the talking for him. Lord Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 another phaast boila:woot: the real phaast boiling paawarhouse are us:agree:
Vilander Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I love fast bowling more than anything else in cricket..but this is too much even for me.. I understand OP has tried to bring a point. But after sandeep warrier guy this is an other kid who probably bowls 130k.
MCcricket Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 This kid is very young and so it seems impressive, anyways maybe amony all the decoys we will find the real mr mcoy
The Outsider Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Yeah another one. We've had 50 times more threads on phhaasshht boilers than phhaasshht boilers.
PBN Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 B-> though got to say pace without skill, direction, swing, line and length is just cannon fodder. let's see how he develops.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Can we just get it done with all these phaast bowlers threads? It's almost like I'm browsing through the padosi forum. For once let's hold on to our horses till someone actually plays a game. Our fast bowlers are a joke version of "Chinese whispers" where the speed of the bowler increases with each repetition and what you see on the field is a 120 kph Unadkat or Koomars. By the way 18 year old bowling 140 kph is not that big a deal. Cummins from Aus along with a bunch of u-19 bowlers in the recent u-19 WC did just that. IIRC 2 from WI, 2-3 from Aus including one of Indian origin, 1-2 from Pak and 1-2 from SA etc. Happens all the time and is not something unique.

Ultimate_Game Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 it is for an indian bowler :P Irfan Pathan was bowling around 140 on his debut series in Aus and it went downhill from there. Ditto Ishant Sharma :(( Past experience has taught us to tread with caution and to let players come through else we will get more Unadkats, Varun Aarons and Atul Sharmas.

rkt.india Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Sandeep Warrier was also supposed to be bowling 140K, struggled to hit 135K. Believe when you see.
kubrickian Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 He is making his debut in IPL today, playing for Mumbai Indians.
rkt.india Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Really unexpected debut ahead of Dhawal, Suyal and Abu. Big day for 19 year old.
kubrickian Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Another one :banghead: He is 19 years old and will be smashed on flat tracks in IPL like most bowlers. We shouldnt be too harsh. It will be interesting to see his action, pace and whether he can get any bounce or seam movement.

I was only saying - Another fast bowler thread without even watching him bowl. We have made it a habit here of hyping prospective fast bowlers even before we see them bowl a single ball.
