FischerTal Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Irrespective of whether it is a seaming/swinging, fast and bouncy, or rank turner, which ground do you think is toughest to play in the last 20-30 years of test cricket? I have added 10 grounds as this was the maximum amount I could have. For me it has to be the WACA.

Durban, the nature of pitch is that it helps seamer for most part of first 3 days and helps spinners during last 2 days. Really tough pitch to bat on right form Day1.
Crookbond Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 As a batsman the most difficult place for me would be the pitches on which Kanga League is played - try playing when ALL pitches are damp and puddles of water to stop your shots from going to the boundary. A paradise for the bowler, night mare for the batsmen! As a bowler, it would be Gwalior or Rajkot.
Executioner Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Most of you havent seen to much cricket in Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium-Chittagong. The bowl spins as much as it did in the kotla pitch. Teams batting first averages about 200 there in ODIs. And yes my friends, that was the same pitch in which India was dismissed for 240 against Bangladesh in 2010

You will hardly see any grass since the entrance of Tahir in that province team Dolphins, the pitch has changed to help him. It does not have that much bounce and pace now.

Chasing is tough on most grounds Eden Gardens is usually flat although it does assist reverse swing Didn't we make like 600 against the Pakis and Jaffer had a double hundred I think against the paki fast bowlers?
rkt.india Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I do not think there is a certain tough ground as such because you rarely found similar pitch every time you see match on any ground. Jamaica Sabina park is one of the toughest place to bat on at most of the times you will see a match there because of the uncertain pitch and then Kensington oval, Barbaodos. Perth can be flat as pancake or can be as steamy as Indian summer. :giggle: Same for Wanderers and Centurian. Headingly and Nottingham depends on how weather conditions are.

Before Indian could realize what is happening with them, they were blown away. For an Aussie or SA batsmen a turner in sub-continent would be tough but for sub-continental batsmen a bouncy pitch like WACA or a seaming one like Headingley on an overcast day would be hard to negotiate. There's no correct answer to the question. Maybe OP should clarify which team he had in mind.
