Laaloo Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Kapil must not have been proud of Punjabi roots' date=' whatever that means :giggle:[/quote'] Why would he be proud when Punjab didn't give anything? It was all Bengal. :beee:
Lurker Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Why would he be proud when Punjab didn't give anything? It was all Bengal. :beee: :hysterical::hysterical: True that. But it all started in Magadha, lest you forget :beee:
Akash_Cric Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 No point arguing with people who are clearly biased and bitter. Why do you guys hate Punjabis? you know Punjabis are also Indians.
vvvslaxman Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 IN other countries they call as Queenslander, Tasmanian, Jamaican etc.. Here we are stuck with these "roots".
Muloghonto Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 No point arguing with people who are clearly biased and bitter. Why do you guys hate Punjabis? you know Punjabis are also Indians. Biter and biassed about what ? Look, Mumbai has produced the best batsmen for India, Karnataka for bowlers. Punjab has produced one off and as i said, i dont believe the people you are listing as Punjabi are Punjabi. I know for a fact that Kohli is not a punjabi name but a doabi name. It doesnt matter if Kohli lived in Punjab, if his grandpa had a plot of land in some Punjabi village, they are still doabis. Same as how you may find a trivedi in Bengali villages but they are also doabis.
youngindia Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Players are product of where they play not where the roots are from. Amla wouldn't be same batsman if he had grown up in India. Haryana and HP were all originally punjab. infact kapil's father came from the pak side during partition and rebuilt his business after independence. during his debut series in pakistan 1978, he made a visit to pakistan based relatives .
Tiger80 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 kohli is not a Punjabi last name' date= though there maybe Kohlis in Punjab. As i said, i dont think anyone except for Kapil Dev from that list you provided are actually Punjabi by any definition of the word. Ever heard of Manmohan Singh Kohli?

In that case Andrapradesh, karnataka, Tamilnadu were all madras. Yes for historical research those are good. There is no proof he became a great player because he was a punjabi . We have seen so many crappy punjabi players as well.
bhumika Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 No point arguing with people who are clearly biased and bitter. Why do you guys hate Punjabis? you know Punjabis are also Indians. No one hates Punjabi. I have lot of Punjabi friends. what you are trying to do here is one is saying superior than the other. stop spending too much time on Pakistani forums. I know where you are coming from with Punjabi thing. But truth be told that is not a fact. you need good playing conditions to be a good cricketer as vvs said. your logic is like only king son can be leader but no it is not true every one who exposed to dealing with people issues and solves them is a good leader.
Crookbond Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Haryana and HP were all originally punjab. infact kapil's father came from the pak side during partition and rebuilt his business after independence. during his debut series in pakistan 1978, he made a visit to pakistan based relatives . So, that makes Kapil Pakistani then? :woot:
vvvslaxman Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I see this mindless "root" obsession only with some punjabi fans much like Padosis go gaga over Amla, Khawaja
Tiger80 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 No..you have to represent punjab to be considered as "punjabi". Playing environment makes cricketers. How many people in India will consider Harmeet singh as Maharashtrian ?
vvvslaxman Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 How many people in India will consider Harmeet singh as Maharashtrian ? Nobody . But his cricketing skills? That has no religion, roots.
NareshK Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Karnataka has produced Srinath, Kumble, Dravid, Gundappa Vishwanath, Prasanna, Chandrasekhar - some of all time greats. Beat that.
youngindia Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 In that case Andrapradesh' date=' karnataka, Tamilnadu were all madras. Yes for historical research those are good. We have seen so many crappy punjabi players as well.[/quote'] yes interesting details.that's all it was. also that kapil(& haryana) had stronger punjabi roots than implied. i am the only one here who has a vision of 11 tamils in the indian team. why wud i support a hopeless state in the far north.:--D
Number Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 i am the only one here who has a vision of 11 tamils in the indian team. why wud i support a hopeless state in the far north.:--D 11 CSKs doesn't look far. :haha:
coffee_rules Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Karnataka will most likely field the most potent XI amongst all state teams, including Bombay. It may also go toe to toe against Bombay in all time XI clash. Karnataka is weaker in batting, but makes up in bowling. Roger Binny Mankad Carlon Saldhana Gavaskar Rahul Dravid Hazare GR VIshwanth Tendulkar Brijesh Patel Vengsarkar Sudhakar Rao Merchant SMH Kirmani Engineer Srinath Shastri Kumble Zaheer Prasanna Shivalkar Chandrashekar Gupte
