Or are we just too good for that sub standard league. I recall Sachin, Rahul, saurav, Laxman, Zaheer, srinath etc playing and largely benefitting. ESP. Zaheer. He was down and out before the hard season in England. Maybe Karthik is only one I can think who has played in county consistently.

Sachin Stint was too short. Kumble 104 wickets, Srinath 87 wickets same season. Zak 78 wickets. Bowlers will get better. Not sure about batsmen.

I wish somehow Bhuvneshar Kumar or Umesh Yadav get a stint in county for some team. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a very knowledgeable bowler who will gain a lot from an overseas tour.

BCCI dont allow them to play there, especially contracted players and players in and around selection. Last year, Rahane was denied NOC.

No one other than Murali Kartik. Wonder why Pragyan Ojha didn't go back to Surrey after his immensely successful short stint there in 2011. Instead they went with Abdur Rehman, who like Ojha did very well last season. Also with a couple of English coaches in IPL like Jeremy Snape with DD, for the likes of Umesh, Irfan should be relatively easier to open up a county contract opportunity. But as always BCCI has been boneheaded and doesn't give new NOCsfor the last couple of years.

You need either 15 ODIs and T20s or 1 test in the last 2 years to meet the workplace requirements of county cricket. at that point last year Rahane had not met these requirements.... Not every tom dick and harry and simply walk into county cricket you know. Especially Indians. Aussies skirt around these rules by marrying somebody within the EU region. I dont know where this myth of BCCI saying no to Rahane arose when the work requirements of the UK are pretty strict.

and just to clarify, somebody like Manoj tiwary cannot goto county cricket cause he has not playing 15 ODIs or T20s or atleast 1 test in the last 2 years. While somebody like Chawla can play county cricket (or qualify) as he has played a test in the past 2 years. Somebody like a Mukund can play in county cricket as he has played a test in the past 2 years.

Without an EU passport, overseas players need to have played a minimum of one Test match or 15 one-day internationals and/or Twenty20 internationals in the two years prior to the visa application. But Miller, yet to make his Test debut, has played only 13 times for South Africa in the past two years.

these rules were brought in 2009 i believe to counter the exodus of South africans as kolpaks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolpak_ruling I also believe that his wife does hold a dual south african and EU (european union passport). somebody like Nannes can play for any side without a visa in county cricket because he holds a dutch passport. Same for Somebody like Henriques because he holds a portuguese passport.
