ganeshran Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Subroto is under financial pressure to return investors money, the franchise isnt doing too well - he might face a liquidity crunch soon. Do you think he will sell the franchise to generate funds for Sahara?
ganeshran Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 They have been ordered by the court to return back 24000 crores of investor money. If the order is enforced, Sahara will go under
Sachin=GOD Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 at some point he will sell a significant stake but not the whole team.
ganeshran Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 at some point he will sell a significant stake but not the whole team. If he has to return 24000 crores, he would have no option. There would be no liquidity in the company left to pay players and the yearly 150 crores to BCCI. Pune is far from profitable. It all depends on SEBI now. Or Roy might have to do a distress sale or abandon the franchise like DC did

Or Roy might have to do a distress sale or abandon the franchise like DC did He's in deep sh!t now and even if sells everything he has, he still won't be able to raise 24000 crores. Also, the kind of form Pune has shown since it started, he certainly won't get anything near what he bought the team for. ATM he needs to be more afraid of the Supreme Court than SEBI.
kubrickian Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I actually wish they drop this team. I liked the format in first 3 seasons where there were 8 teams and each team played 14 games and the tournament was over in a month and a half. Besides, is there a real need for this team ? Are there any real fans for this team ? Most people in Pune or Maharashtra would be supporting Mumbai Indians, so what's the point of another team ? Also, none of the players in Pune are from the city itself. It just feels like a team which exists just for the sake of it and I suspect the players feel the same too and hence their halfhearted approach to win games.

IKnowU Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I thought Sahara was a solid company? What's the sudden crisis all of a sudden?
Texan Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 He's a scamster. At some point, the government will probably end up auctioning off the team.

Executioner Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 this 8 team thing dilutes to quality of the league. If there was no PWI, quality players like yuvi, kumar, and rahul sharma could have been picked for other teams like punjab and Sunsetters

If the order is enforced' date= Sahara will go under Ganesh, Are you sure about this figure? I find this very surprising that as I remember reading an article in the ET that mentioned that on RoI ( of the franchise), it is PWI and RR which have done the best. But that was before Subroto built that stadium on the express highway.

But that was before Subroto built that stadium on the express highway. I don't this has to do with just PWI. Sebi has been asked by the Supreme Court to facilitate refund of over Rs 24,000 crore to more than three crore bond holders of Sahara India Real Estate Corp Ltd and Sahara Housing Investment http://www.indiatimes.com/news/more-from-india/sebi-quizzes-sahara-chief-subrata-roy-over-rs-24000-crore-refund-case-71308.html
Sachin=GOD Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 He will probably payoff a fraction of the 24000 crores and continue expanding his empire. this time he won't get away with paying just a fraction because both SC and SEBI are closely looking at his case and he no longer has as many political friends as he earlier had.
I6MTW Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 They should move this franchise to gujurat or kerala or even goa. Maharashtra already has a team. Why 2 teams in one state? This isn't USA where people are loyal to their city rather than state.

Some entertainment for us at-least.

He is heading for the jail unless he has some really big politicians benefiting from his scams who may bail him out to keep him from spilling the beans.
G_B_ Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 enough black money in sahara to pay them off. Why even pune ipl franchise? Sahara will also chop its India sponcership
