The form/fitness of our erstwhile Top Gun in ODIs (Yuvraj Singh)

How is the form/fitness of erstwhile Top Gun for India in ODIs (Yuvraj Singh) going into Champions Trophy? Is that a huge concern for Indian team? On his good days, there is no better clean striker in Indian ODI team, but I dont know if he is in good shape now?

I would love to bump this thread the day he owns his doubters. Did you guys forget that 36-ball 72 against Pakistan where he smashed Ajmal? He has never performed well in IPL, if you are judging his form by that.

since his cancer treatment his ODI stats are 8 matches 160 runs average of 20 with one 50 plus score. He is not the same guy anymore.

Yuvi was is awful form before world cup and plenty wanted him dropped.It didnt turn out bad no? Yuvi is India's greatest world cup(or CT) player so dropping him is madness . He may struggle this time but its easily a gamble worth taking evry time

Yuvraj looks fitter, its just that he's never passionate enough in IPL to score big. You can look at him and say he doesn't give two hoots about PWI, goes out and has fun while it lasts. He played World cup with cancer and still gave it his all, no body should question his commitment to Indian team.

Don't want to sound mean but that's kind of exaggarted.....Yes good on him that he beat Non-malignant tumor the next year but don't think he was a sick man playing in the W.C but dserves the credit for his heroic effort on-field though. The fact is he looks jaded in his last few innings and time we start planning ahead.

His fielding has been dismal (not just in IPL)... he still is a rarity in Indian lineup that can hit big and turn around a match, but soon he'll be trouble if he doesn't score big ...I don't think Patil & Co would keep him around just as they did in Tests.

I am not saying he should be dropped for CT. Ofcourse he needs to be given plenty more chances to get back to form. Just that, it is very worrying for Indian team that without Yuvraj Singh in form (batting especially, but also bowling/fielding), India will find it tough in CT.

the 3 ODis vs pakistan our entire bating line up sucked apart from dhoni. After cancer he did play well in the world t20 as a bowler. he didn't really get that many opportunities to score. It would be better for Yuvi and the team if dhoni batted at number 4 but dhoni would rather bat behind yuvi and Raina for some reason despite having the highest average. But instead its yuvraj that has to play at number 4 after an opening partnership thats incredibly inconsistent and that's probably hurting yuvraj more than anything. He's never been that great in those positions. Dhonis style is probably better suited to those type of situations but he's batting at number 6 for some stupid reason. In world cup yuvraj was a beast because he was getting decent platforms (even though they weren't that great.) Before the world cup and after he wasn't getting any kind of platform and he struggled. Thats mainly because of the absense of tendulkar and how solid he made that top order along with gambhir and kohli. Even when they failed they left yuvraj with something to work with. Matter of fact even jadeja would be better at number 4 just to set things up for yuvi raina and dhoni to finish. Pakistan have getting great success with having hacks in the the top order and stacking the lower order with hitters.

A definite concern. Has had too many niggles in the IPL as well. But his form could change in one knock, hopefully that knock will come in the practice matches.
