India will be up against SA/Pakistan/Windies.. Against Windies and SA india has to rely on spin. I don't think we have fast bowlers that do magic even in helpful conditions. May be just Bhuvan. Rest of the guys are not good enough to exploit even helpful surface. Also we cannot assume it will be bowler friendly there. In a world event generally it will be more batsmen friendly.
I think you are underestimating our pace attack,Irfan, bhuvi, umesh and even lambu can be a handful on a good pitch.

I think we have picked the best 5 pace bowlers in India currently...period. Aaron,Shami ,Sreeshanth and dare I say Dinda(Pre-IPL don't know how he would be looked at now) are next in the pecking order Rest are all the names often discussed on this forum at various times. Zak is done,fini,finished,khatam....stick a fork in him

not sure if serious' date='jadeja cannot play fast bowling let alone if the ball swings like it will do in England.I also dont think Ashwin will be very effective in England either,we should go with Irfan and 4 fast bowlers .[/quote'] Dude 5 fast bowlers  This is the team should play: Dhawan Vijay Kohli Rohit Raina Dhoni Pathan/Jadeja Ashwin Bhuv Yadav Ishant * Give Vijay atleast the opening game against saffers. He is a genuine opener, so might need his technique to survive the new ball. If he fails, replace Karthik in the West Indies game. * The openers job should be not to lose wickets in first 10 overs. Play off the new ball, even if the run rate is only 3. The strikers we have in middle order can easily score 250 - 270 runs in next 40 overs (even more). This can only happen if we dont lose early wickets. * Play Pathan in the Pakistan game as they play spinners well. If you are playing him, make sure he gets the new ball. Pathan with new ball in English conditions can be handy. Open the bowling with Bhuv and Pathan. For the game against WI and SAF play Jaddu. * Give Umesh 3/4 short spells and ask him to bowl as quick as he can. If we follow all these and click as a team, we will do good. B+

Thats probably why kartik is their because when he used to play he didn't get out that quickly.

Do you realize rules have changed in ODI's since October?
yeah.but we gotta play to our strengths.cant play seamers for the sake of it.when they are likes of Ishant.even if Jadeja gives the same runs, hes a bonus in batting n fielding.

No it should be 6 batsman + 4 bowlers + 1 all rounder (Pathan/Jadeja)
 That implicitly means playing 5 bowlers which includes 1 all rounder - same as I meant.

So' date=' play 5 best bowlers - do not drop a bowler for a batsman.[/quote'] no play 5 bowlers who can contribute most in package.both Irfan n Jaddu will contribute more as a package.only BK(and maybe Ashwin) is good enough to get in for his bowling alone.rest are average,so we need to play allrounders if we can

Some of them may be all a rounders.

Pack you side with more such 'packages' and you'll be forced to pack your bags right after the prelim stages in CT as we found in the 2004 edition played in England.

cardiff and edgbaston would surely be bowling friendly ,pacers mainly, during this time of the year. should play 4 pacers,no point in playing 2 spinners on a fresh pacy track barring oval maybe

I'm talking from the current squad.if specialists are bowlers like Vinay n Ishant,I'm quite happy with packages

Imo, forget about the players selected in the squad. The real issue is why did we select 8 bowlers and only 7 batsman. Especially when this time, our batting will be very new and untested, we should have offered more back-up for batting department. Now, we cannot play 7 batsman and if 1-2 of our batsman fail, we still have to stick with them.
