You can't discount a bowler's form even if it is IPL. However' date=' Mishra is a poor pick. Coming back to Yuvraj it is about fitness (now read what I said before about fitness) + form as he lacks both. Why would you pick him?[/quote'] because hes proven player who brings his best in these ICC tourneys.Hes never done well in IPL so not sure why its such an indicator.IPL is different format in different conditions,it should never be used as an indicator I'd been okay if they picked guys like Tiwary or Rayudu instead of him.but Tiwary is injured and Rayudu is inexplicably dropped.so Rohit is picked:facepalm: we are already light on experience after SRT,Sehwag.Needed Yuvi there.

Chalo Mishraji ko hi pakad lo.Why is he selected but Yuvi isnt?Clearly match fitness isnt a selection criteria like it is with Australia nor is it the reason for Yuvi's exclusion
This team is selected mainly based on IPL and Aus test series performance. Mishra is a poor selection especially in English conditions. They forget how he was thrashed in test series there. He always does well in IPL, not the first time.

You forgot to add a qualification there - "if he's fit".

Harsh move' date=' but we ll never know the inside story. Personally I feel yuvi is not fit, he needs a time away from the action to rejuvenate.[/quote'] India TV reported there were concerns on his fitness in 'cold weather' of UK and Yuvi was told about it before the team was announced. Can't be sure if their version is true.

if hes fit enough for IPL,hes fit enough for CT too.You dont have to be 100 %.Key players get that leverage all the time

40 overs vs 100 overs, domestic league vs International cricket, one and the same?

40 overs vs 100 overs' date=' domestic league vs International cricket, one and the same?[/quote'] to be fair, in the ipl your playing non stop cricket. barely a gap between matches, champions league will have more of a gap between matches. I am sure you can send out the 12th man to cover for Yuvi in the ODIs when the side is fielding.

Like I said earlier, please refer to "match fitness".

There have been reports of Yuvraj missing multiple practice sessions due to injuries, first a back problem and recently due to finger injuries. Has also missed 3-4 matches so far. Even before IPL, post the Eng ODIs, he missed many domestic matches due to injuries. Even when he played the T20 WC and the subsequent T20s and ODIs post his comeback, he never looked fit. Credit to him for having gone through those rigors and putting in some decent performances as well. But going by the reports in sections of media, his fitness is considered to be a risk. IMO thats a fair call by the selectors. We play plenty of ODIs later in the year, Yuvi would surely get fitter and be ready for those. By no means, his ODI career is over.

That is a plausible explanation. He looks only 50% fit and tries to push through.

+1 Anyone suggesting his ODI career is over, should start watching cricket.

Can be possible, look he is an ODI legend already, he played this IPL season and has not done really well, he looks unfit, this is a bold move by Patil & Co., you dont and you cant drop Yuvraj from any ODI setup in the world, he walks into any Intl. ODI team any given day. I strongly believe that this selection is inspired by IPL performances alone, barring Murali VIjay, every other player looks in good touch. Lets give Yuvi a break, time for him to regain 3 F's, Focus, Fitness, & Finesse. Hail YUVI ! See you against the proteas !
