The evidence, from what I've read, is quite telling. The Special Cell of the Delhi police claim to have telephonic records and whatsapp chat excerpts too. If the Police are actually going for a high profile arrest, they would double check and move. They wouldn't want to risk a libel/defamation case. The other point, which has remained unaddressed in the entire melee so far is the status of betting in India. As per our current ( and very archaic laws) betting it self is illegal. So being a bookie alone is enough to get a person incarcerated. Why did the Delhi Police, and they claim to know about these particular bookies from April, not nip the crime in the bud by arresting them back then? We've got to legalize betting. It would regulate the flow of money, get a few tax Rs into government coffers and over all reduce the chance of spot fixing. At least our authorities can keep tab. There is no other way ahead. On topic: Really disappointed with Sreesanth. They guy's won a world cup a T 20 and yet has done something so despicable.

BCCI is at least investigating and banning the cricketers. In Pakistan, nobody even cares about this stuff. Its just regular matter there. I still keep reading comments from Pakis about how Amir/Asif/Butt are innocent and framed by ICC. You wont read those kind of retarded comments from most Indians.

Sreesanth claims innocence, alleges frame-up

NEW DELHI: Indian pace bowler S Sreesanth, who along with others, is embroiled in a spot-fixing controversy that has rocked the ongoing IPL, on Thursday claimed in a Delhi court that he is innocent and was framed in the scandal. Opposing Delhi police's plea seeking seven-day custodial interrogation of all the accused, advocate Deepak Prakash, who appeared for Sreesanth, told reporters that he told chief metropolitan magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma that the cricketer is innocent and there is no evidence against him in the case. "The police have not produced any direct evidence against Sreesanth. He is innocent and has been framed in the case", he said. He said police only produced certain excerpts of the tapped conversation of bookies in which Sreesanth's name has not even cropped up anywhere. Opposing the police's plea, Prakash said the probe agency has failed to give any preliminary evidence against Sreesanth. "He (Sreesanth) is totally broken and now I will try for his bail after meeting him in the police station," he said. Dressed in a black T-shirt and jeans, Sreesanth was brought in the court premises in a separate car with his face muffled up with a black cloth. Two policemen accompanied him in the car. The prosecutor told the court that these cricketers had betted and taken money for every ball and runs in every over. The police said Chavan had taken money for Wednesday's match also. The court allowed the police's plea saying, "five days custody is sufficient for the police to interrogate them (accused)."

First job of defense will be to do damage control. He is not going to say "sreesanth is not innocent". So i am not going to buy his statement either. Let us see how it unfolds.
