Why is 4-0-17-0 so bad? Even though IS and UY were bowling well, they are bowlers who are capable of one bad over towards the end resulting in 10-17 (2 sixes or 3 4s? leaked in slog overs) runs from a single over. The only question is why was BK not given one final over?

yes Ashwin should have opened the bowling instead of Yadav,would have got those 3 wickets upfront n we'd have restriced them under 100:((

I think originally dhoni though he was more likely to take a wicket than ashwin, then towards the end he didn't want to give the lankans that much pace to work with so he bowled ashwin.

Dhoni hinted in the post match presentation that it was a gamble. He was thinking of giving himself just one over. Since it went okay gave himself a couple more overs.

He had 5 front line bowlers and could have rotated him in a way so that Yadav didn't have to bowl at death. There was hardly ant need to bring himself on. When batting is easy, he promoted himself. Now he is doing same thing, even with bowling.

I have got to say I personally thought Dhoni should not have bowled more than 2 overs. Fair enough try your arm and see if you can take a wicket. You have good bowlers like Bhuvi not completing his quota. On top of which India have bowlers like Raina and Kohli at their disposal if the need is there to make up the bowling quota of other bowlers. There is no need for Dhoni to bowl. This India team have 5 bowling options and Kohli and Raina as decent back ups. This appears to be the boost Dhoni brand value campaign.

He used up most of the overs from seamers upfront. Not many left for power play or death overs. Thankfully our spinners did the job once again. Also they probably had this idea already in mind that in a scenario where ball is darting around he could use himself as an option. I was also worried. But turns out they did have back up plans if the move was going to backfire. He took himself out at the right time.
