Michael Holding asked a pretty logical question to Sourav Ganguly, Why wasnt the match between West Indies & South Africa granted an extra hour? since this being the same tournament? Thoughts?

NZ vs Aus had been called off in group stages, so not sure they could have done it for SA vs WI. WI do have the right to feel pissed because for all we know they needed just 1 more ball. ICC did a sensible thing though, final is a big event.. Exceptions can be made.

Not really......minimum overs for a result in that match were achieved......had Pollard showed some cricketing acumen......West Indies would've progressed.......do you think Holding would be complaining if Pollard had hit a boundary in the penultimate ball and WI managed to progress to the semis via D/L???

2 reasons why extra time was allotted to the Ind-Eng game but not WI-SA game... 1. Ind-Eng was the final of the tourney, whereas WI-SA was a group match. 2. Time was allotted to Ind-Eng game coz when the rain arrived, the game would have been washed out since only 6 overs were completed by the time. In WI-SA game, the match was already over as 20 overs were already complete by the allotted time so no additional time was needed to finish the game.

Because it is a final. In a lots of finals and semi finals (even in football) reserve days are kept. Holding is quite the bitter old man. he seriously wanted a washed out match with shared trophy vs. this exciting end.

Michael Holding is one of the worst commentator in this CT apart from Gavaskar and Bhogle. I don't know how people like Holding's voice as it is pretty crap. :P
