Injured Tiwary out for four months

Manoj Tiwary, the India batsman, has been ruled out of competitive cricket for four months because of a twisted left knee. Tiwary picked up the injury during a football drill for the Kalighat cricket club in Kolkata.:facepalm: As a consequence, he will most likely miss out on India's tour of Zimbabwe, which is slated to begin on July 24. The BCCI has asked Tiwary to fly to England on June 29 to meet Dr Andrew Williams, a British orthopaedic surgeon and knee specialist, for consultation and immediate surgery. Dr Williams has worked with the likes of Andrew Flintoff, Shoaib Akhtar, and more recently Cheteshwar Pujara. This is the second time this year that Tiwary has been ruled out because of injury. He previously suffered a shoulder injury during the Vijay Hazare Trophy semi-final against Delhi in March, just a month after making his return to competitive cricket in the Irani Cup for Rest of India against Mumbai. During this year's IPL, he was out for a week because of a bruised right hand he suffered against Kings XI Punjab on April 26. In December last year, he was prescribed six weeks rest after sustaining a back injury during the Ranji Trophy. As a result, he missed the Twenty20 and ODI series against both England and Pakistan.

he keeps picking up these injuries. He is already 27 and the window of him being selected and playing and sealing a spot in India's batting line up are closing in fast. very disappointing for him. Should have IMO made the side for Zimbabwe when we rested a few players

He is seriously injury prone. Been unlucky as often sat on the bench when picked and only played a handful of games over the years. But he does risk being labelled as a nearly man as other pretenders will race ahead in the queue.

indian cricket will always have nearly men. Tiwary is well on course. Another one was Badri, should have been given more chances at 6 when Ganguly called quits in 2008. Instead we tried a succession of Yuvraj and Raina. Candidates who were limited overs players and never test players.

"The doctor has told me specifically that a minimum of four months is required for rehabilitation and I have to take it from there on. Right now, I am just ready to take one day at a time. I just want to be fit before I can resume playing."

I'd say he's the unluckiest, considering the difference in talent between the two (btw, that's my opinion, u r entitled to yours)

How was Badri unlucky? He just didn't make use of his opportunities. If he did well, he would have been a regular in the side as of now with all stalwarts retiring.

His injuries do not have anything to do with fitness. He is one of the fittest played and one of the best fielder in India. He gets too many freak injuries.

Yup he was unlucky when or batting used to have likes of Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman. He couldn't do much in his 2 tests, which were not sufficient to judge but since then he hasn't done much of note in domestic as well to make a case for selection.
