Ambati Rayudu to replace injured MS Dhoni in the West Indies tri-series.

MS Dhoni has been ruled out of the West Indies tri-series after he injured his right hamstring during India's one-wicket loss against West Indies on Sunday. Dhoni received treatment on the field during his innings of 27 and did not take the field in the second innings. He may also be unavailable for the five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe which begins on July 24 in Harare. Ambati Rayudu, the Baroda wicketkeeper-batsman, has been named Dhoni's replacement. Rayudu, who is yet to debut for India in international cricket, has scored 1824 runs, including one century and 14 fifties, in List-A cricket at an average of 35.07. He had a prolific first-class season this year; He scored 666 runs in the Ranji Trophy at 60.54, with a hundred and seven fifties. Virat Kohli, who captained India in Dhoni's absence in the second innings at Sabina Park on Sunday, will lead the team in the remaining matches. Dinesh Karthik, who kept wickets in that match, is likely to continues as the first-choice wicketkeeper.

Rayudu bats low for MI. Not for his state i think. Anyway not a horrible call as Pujara may not fit this line up. Uthappa could have been another choice.. He could have been pushed to open and let Rohit play as a finisher.

i will never change anything which is working also rayadu deserved a call as he is very classy batsman

Is he flying to WI to to play just 2 matches? I don't think think he is going to be in playing XI. What about other players who haven't got chance? Vijay,Vinay,Mishra and Shami.. DK can keep.

Unless they have his visa ready, he would not reach WI in time. Happened with Umesh Yadav in 2010 and Awana in 2012 previously. Paper work takes forever to be completed. BCCI did say they will ensure some fringe players have their visa stamped in advance, lets see if any lessons have been learned.

I cant believe these are Indian selectors. How come they are making one good decision after another ? :hmmm: Rayudu is a good pick. He has the game to play an anchor and build a partnership and he can also play the big shots. He has also done well in A tours in overseas conditions over the years.
