In this format people can become hero just by performing in one KO matches like last time.

Ireland may defeat WI probably but will fail to qualify.[/quote'] I'm not defending this format But that was poor too,one loss against BD put us in a must win game against SL.That is too much imo.Minnows going into super 8 on the basis of one upset makes the whole tourney boring as they then are incapable of repeating their performance and are just pushovers As I said 2003 WC was best.If you remember SL lost to Kenya but still qualified.In this format atleast two big teams are ousted from group stages.So that puts enough relevance on every match

And I trying to answer that. All the ICC events schedules are notched up by pooling teams into various groups according to their ICC Rankings on a certain particular cut off date. Now, that cut-off window for ICC Champions Trophy was a little small but its huge for the ICC CWC since it has been announced before nearly 18 months. Now it may be possible that the rankings over the small gap in time-period have remained same and hence we see the same set of teams grouped together in both events. I am sure we will have different groups for WT20.

Its like the Aussies board members who are in power have got the better games for their cities.

I will bet anything that India v Pakistan will happen in 2019 WC and so will Aus v England. The ICC just picked a date which suited their agenda in the rankings. Based on the current rankings the ICC would pick 1,4,5,6 etc etc ensuring that India play Pakistan.

flashpan Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 December 31st,2012 was the cut-off date for the 2015 WC. I assume it was roughly around the same period for the 2013 ICC CT as well. No wonder, we got the same groupings. If the ICC had taken June 30th (after the CT) as the cut-off period, then Group A would have been India, SL, SA, West Indies, Bangladesh and two qualifiers with the rest of the teams in the other pool. Does not make too much of a difference.

They can never pick 1,4,5,6 else even 2007 WC would have had Ind-Pak in same group ... and we never faced Pak in any other WT20 event after 2007 until 2012 if I am correct.
adi B Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 again similar format to the 011 wc,half the pool matches will be borefest with too many one sided matches.i dont like this format at all,03,99 wc format were ideal with 1 less minnow in each pool. now we`ll see good for nothing teams like kenya,canada :facepalm: netherland and bang will also struggle to even compete on aus pitches without any decent pacer,only ireland and zimboks(because of decent pace attack) might do well ,OTTOT the poms have snatched ireland`s best bowler, rankin .. some inspirational performance by the minnows and some tight matches can raise some excitement,else it is gonna be dross

Group A looks weak never mind that 2 minnows as qualifiers will join it to make it very boring - so obvious who will qualify from there. Group B looks tougher with only one qualifier and looks like could be close in tersm of who qualifies. The ICC are abysmal at scheduling, organising and running events, they make FIFA look perfect in comparison.
adi B Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 the saddest part is suppose a team eg india wins all th GS matches and face nzl(last in the other group) and lose the qf tie maybe due to a heroic batting/bowling performance by a kiwi and ofcourse the home support ,the best team is out lol.. a team like wi suppose lose 3 matches in GS,just manages to scrap through to qf by bashing the minnow,faces aus,knock them out,another best team out.. at the knockout stage it would just take a freak batting/bowling performance to knock out a heavyweight.. best format was 99,03 wc,even the 92 format was better than this one
