Another one of those not the most talented of the lot but makes big efforts and succeeds. He has bailed out his team in all three formats with both bat and bowl many times. Most people don't even think about him while talking about SA. He's the Rainaesque with the bat and Jadejaseque with the bowl. Batting Averages Test - 38 ODI - 40 T20 - 33 We see threads on Amla and ABDV and Steyn all the time but I think this guy deserves one too. 51 with the bat and 18/3 with the ball today! :nice:

JP Duminy Not talented :WTF: The guy plays for SA and in IPL for :srh: for cryin out loud
depends on how loud you cry I didn't say he wasn't talented. He's not as naturally talented as nohit, umar akmal, darren bravo etc but he works that much harder and that shows.

If anything he hasn't lived upto the promise that he had shown to begin with. I recall one article from Harsha Bhogale around may 2009 where he had picked 4 batsmen who would dominate for a decade or so. Other than Duminy he had picked Raina, Gambhir and ABDV. Other than ABDV all three has been fallen by the wayside.

+1 I had very high hopes form him, especially after watching that 166 against Aus. He has done well but IMO its nowhere near what he could have achieved till now.

He is an underrated part timer but i don't think he is anywhere near Jadeja as a bowler.

he has done well in the limited overs. Has a solid record in ODIs and T20s. Tests is where he has failed to live upto his potential. An average of less than 40 is not good enough....... He can still recover though. Hussey made his debut at 30 and was there in cricket for another 7 years at the top. JP is 29 and IMO can push on to get an average in the tests in the mid 40s.

I don't understand this. Is he supposed to be in the line with the likes of Hussey and some of the others mentioned in this thread? I never knew there was so much expected out of him. hmmm To me he was always the guy that never looked like succeeding but he always came through as a surprise. Sort of like Raina - as I always mentioned.

hmm your missing the point. People can gain form etc late into their careers. Thats the comparison with Hussey. Take Anderson , for the first 4-5 years he was **** with the ball. The past 3 years he has been sensational.

Duminy was too much hyped early on ... He is playing to potential in LOIs' date=' its just tests where he needs to get his act a little better.[/quote'] He is a more than a decent bat at #7 in Tests.
