Clarke Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 And u dont need to be one of them to speak for them as Periyar said. Yeah right, its all for social justice :winky:
BeautifulGame Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I repeat' date=' I am not a landowner exploiting you. Why do you & your kids deserve major privileges free of cost by virtue of your last name over me or my future generations ? Why can't you compete like the rest of us without demanding a free meal ?[/quote'] 1.They need special previlages not becoz of there last name but becoz they dont have the means to compete in an equal footing. 2.Why dont u stop treating them like animals
adi B Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 To put it frankly yes.Denial of equal opportunity is oppresion its not 18th century,u have to compete for survival like others.getting almost 60 k ranks high and getting seats in better colleges!! i dont buy this argument
Crookbond Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Affirmative action is an acceptable policy IF implemented properly. Affirmative action should provides means to equality and not equality by itself.
BeautifulGame Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Yeah right' date=' its all for social justice :winky:[/quote'] Its an internet forum expressing opinions where the hell did social justice stuff came from? It just shows ur ignorance that only oppressed people will believe in quotas and reservations. Most who have seen the discrimination and poverty issues first hand know the reality
BeautifulGame Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 its not 18th century' date='u have to compete for survival like others.getting almost 60 k ranks high and getting seats in better colleges!! i dont buy this argument[/quote'] How exactly is An Adhivasi student who is the first person to complete schooling from him family generation to compete with someone from a city background be expected to survive fighting for survival?
KFC_Zinger Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 1.They need special previlages not becoz of there last name but becoz they dont have the means to compete in an equal footing. That is why it should be based on economics and not on caste....
BeautifulGame Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 That is why it should be based on economics and not on caste.... As i said earlier Do u know the process to get income certificate in Rural india? Its a joke to put it mildly. Fact is with reservation based on caste system atleast it more often reaches the deserving people (Becoz still 60 to 70% of Dalits are still BPL) .Whereas with the Economic Reservation System it will be the reverse. The creamy layer criteria for OBCs is the perfect example. The real problem with caste based reservation is people who got initially benifited and got uplifted getting benifit from the system again and again.
diga Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Affirmative action is an acceptable policy IF implemented properly. Affirmative action should provides means to equality and not equality by itself. very well put.. The problem comes when the reservations are misused by certain people with access to the best of the education & facilities. I am all for economics based reservation, not caste based
KFC_Zinger Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 As i said earlier I dont think its working, otherwise we would not have had so many LOWER CASTES still not been able to be on the same footing as others.... I think the economically better off Lower castes benefit from this at the expense of not so economically better off forward castes and econmically weak lower castes.....
adi B Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 How exactly is An Adhivasi student who is the first person to complete schooling from him family generation to compete with someone from a city background be expected to survive fighting for survival? I am all for economics based reservation (although very difficult to implement), not caste based..the quotas are misused massively and i have seen live examples. the current quota system is flawed,i am not for it till some amendments are made
Raghav_12 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I oppressed no one and demand that moochers who attended same schools' date= lived in similar conditions do not have extra benefits from the state by virtue of their last name. Too much to ask to give up ur free meal and work for it like the rest of us, pablo ? . This. I oppressed no one and no one should opress me in name of oppression that my forefathers may have done.Who goes to same school as I do, who get same facilities as I do, should not get any preferrential treatment. Period.
King Tendulkar Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Is this even news? Wow blow me down, there is caste system in India??? This is amazing and what people discriminate based upon this!!! Amazing this!!!
Raghav_12 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 How exactly is An Adhivasi student who is the first person to complete schooling from him family generation to compete with someone from a city background be expected to survive fighting for survival? how an upper caste but poor from rural background is supposed to comepte with city background?
KFC_Zinger Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I am all for economics based reservation (although very difficult to implement), not caste based..the quotas are misused massively and i have seen live examples. the current quota system is flawed,i am not for it till some amendments are made I had a friend in Engg, he was a NT 3 by caste and frankly all he had to do was pass and he got the admission... for the rest our PCM cut off was 298/300.... This guy used to drive to the college and holiday overseas with family which was unheard off for the rest, his mum / dad both had followed same route and landed posh govt jobs.... whenever i think of caste based reservations I think of him, i am sure there were lesser priviledged NT's who could have used this
BeautifulGame Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I am all for economics based reservation (although very difficult to implement)' date=' not caste based..[b']the quotas are misused massively and i have seen live examples. the current quota system is flawed,i am not for it till some amendments are made Agree to an extent. But still benifits the needy to an extent particularly in villages. But the problem is alternatives are even worse and i have seen that way too often in my job.Classification based on economic system in Rural India has so far been a joke.
hhunaeh Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 . This. I oppressed no one and no one should opress me in name of oppression that my forefathers may have done.Who goes to same school as I do, who get same facilities as I do, should not get any preferrential treatment. Period. Doesn't the thread OP show that some kids do not get the same facilities because of their caste?Such kind of discrimination in schools would mean they are not an equal footing.
KFC_Zinger Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 how an upper caste but poor from rural background is supposed to comepte with city background? +1... i get an impression here on ICF that everyone believes that upper castes have some vast riches of wealth and are brought up with a silver spoon and hence should be pushed down with quotas
Laaloo Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 . This. I oppressed no one and no one should opress me in name of oppression that my forefathers may have done.Who goes to same school as I do, who get same facilities as I do, should not get any preferrential treatment. Period. ++++ You should be judged upon by what you do/can do , not from what background you came from.
Prakat Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Look at all the moochers lining up! I think most Upper Caste sympathizers are pisseed that for the first time there's an exclusive club and they are not a part of it. :hehe:
