90mph+ bowler in Ranji season 2013-2014

the real question is can they maintain a 90mph spell? I am not talking about 1 odd 90mph ball

only Umesh Yadav can do that...These IPL phaast bowlers :winky:

I always believed passion is important for a fast bowler more than anything else. Just coming in and mechanically completing the quota of overs really doesn't do the trick. Zaheer, Srinath are the kind of bowlers India needs rather than Agarkar, Ishant Sharma kinds..

I was talking about FC. I watched a game where he bowled a spell with good consistent pace and he usually does that. Even in IPL he generally clocked 140s when he got the chance and was also suffering an injury.

Thats great :two_thumbs_up: hope he continue to bowl with good pace in all formats AFAIK he has been a fast medium :D

You need a strong pool of fast bowlers,what icfers are forgetting is that atleast there is willingness,the desire to bowl fast which certainly wasn't the case 15 -20 years ago,it means the kids have realized that just like batting ,bowling is also important aspect especially overseas,where our batting tend to struggle,especially outside Asia ,some might think otherwise,but those whitewashes in eng and aus,were actually blessing in disguise for Indian cricket,it made us realise,world class batsmen can compete for u,but bowlers especially fast bowlers win matches for u,that's why although sachin ,bradman and viv are greatest batsmen of all time but I rate warne,windies quartet ,four allrounders,McGrath ,higher then them.

We are getting their slowly. Much more seamers/pacers are available.

That's why it's important to work on grass root level,I mean at school level,so that future looks more secure,give them feel of international matches,let them know how it feels to represent India at international level.

In 5 to 10 years change the fruition of this culutre change my really pay dividends with plenty of good pacers to choose from. Youngsters now know that bowl fast then can become supertar. The incentives are there.

Only in that one match in IPL but in other 2(?) matches he bowled at mid to high 130s with 140s once in every over he is a fast medium bowler...

He clocked 140 plus in all the matches he played. In second match, he was consistently around 140-146.

whats with obsession with 90 mph? i see plenty of good bowlers who are not 90 mph but can represent india and do well even sid kaul's pace is like shami and unadkat and not much more so people better not hype him for pace to be disappointed afterwards and ignore other good things about his bowling ..

Fastest I have seen anyone bowl over a long spellin domestic cricket is Umesh Yadav's spell in 2011 Irani Trophy when he kept hitting early 140s repeatedly and avg speed was around 87 mph. rest all other pacier spells have been mostly around high 130s. Dont expect that to change. God thing while most bowlers used to operate in early 130s, for the last two seasons in each televised match, you have at least one pacer going 135+ consistently. Last season Ishwar Pandey, Sid Kaul, Dhawal, Pankaj Singh, Mithoon, Ankit Rajpoot and even Ashok Dinda were bowling around that speed. Expect them to continue bowling those speeds this season too.
