Turns out CA had full knowledge of Fawad Alam not comfortable wearing a beer company logo before he became eligible to play for Australia. Too much vitriol on Fawad by the usual suspects.

Even before Fawad became eligible, CA asked whether or not he, as a Muslim and teetotaller, would be comfortable wearing the beer sponsor's logo that adorns the Australian team's kit on tour. When Fawad replied that he would prefer not to, uniforms were produced that excluded the Victoria Bitter badge.

Based on this one article/instance there is no way I'd say they are racist. The made a huge effort to accommodate Fawad, who just does not seem to reciprocate that sentiment.

IMO they are 20 years behind USA in terms of racism. The current generation in 40s is confused as they were raised with different sets of beliefs. As for this news, #1. People are scared of muslim migrants. Only 2 years ago they found that people who came to Aus as refugees were making home made bombs. #2. Aus is not a very religious society and religion is a personal affair, drinking beer is more of a religion in a way. #3. They want immigrants to accept Aus values rather than bringing their own cultural boundaires when they move. Why is it a vegetarian hindu will wear KFC logo while a Muslim wont wear a VB logo. This doesnt make sense to them nor to me. Its also interesting that Amla and Fawad still want to be paid, most of which is coming from the same sponsors. I am not defending abuse but explaining why some people do not understand the logic.

Agree with everything you said, but as far as Amla goes. He doesn't get paid any beer sponsorship money, nor does he wear a jersey which endorses them. That said Fawad needs to learn to integrate.

Amla gets paid same as everybody and pays a small penalty for not wearing the logo so the sponsors dont sue the board. Most money that the boards get is from sponsorship or TV, on TV in Aus/SF cricket is sponsored by sharaab companies. My point is that there is no way to avoid making money from sharaab in sports in Aus and SAF, so they are not really boycotting unless they give up almost all of their salaries.

Some of these guys have no problem migrating to a country where There is a high consumption of Pork,Non-Halal meat and alcohol but seem to have a problem with a f***ng Logo-If this is not hypocricy,then what is? How come they don't apply for refugee status to Saudi Arabia,Iran or say even a more moderate Turkey? so basically you saying Do Nothing if you can't do Everything... How does that makes sense? :dontknow: These guys are r simply doing what Best Possible they CAN do at their personal level according to their Beliefs and nothing wrong in that, I rather see it appreciable... I know their are 10s of complexities involved as you mentioned, you are right! and true that you can't satisfy EVERY single aspect associated with such thing but again does that mean don't even do what was very much possible for you?
