Example of polarization in display. Post one sided articles, though the same sites where the articles were sourced from carry alternate versions of events. On other sites, some other group will post the opposite set of articles on some other site where they have a greater presence. After that go to youtube or ToI comments section and indulge in online rioting.

Aaah, a post devoid of personal attacks and red herrings!

Outy ji, one simple question, if the Congress knows that its the game plan of SP & BJP and ultimately it is going to hurt the Congress, why would they keep quiet and allow SP& BJP to polarize the voters?
What can the Congress do? Dismiss the UP government, so it's government at the center will fall as well. Something they might not even be able to pass in the parliament, even if the government survives.
Let me tell you why. There are talks of a Congress - BSP alliance (Source- http://newindianexpress.com/thesundaystandard/Congress-BSP-alliance-on-the-cards-for-Uttar-Pradesh/2013/09/08/article1773387.ece1). Any such riots with polarized voting will mean muslims voting for a block which has a maximum chance of defeating BJP. With BSP's core vote bank of dalits intact, all that the Con-BSP alliance needs is chunk of muslim votes to ensure both the BJP and SP are defeated.
An alliance with Congress will be the last resort for Mayawati. She needs to get 30 seats on her own to have a major say in the next parliament with Mamata, Jaya, and Mulayam expected to get in big numbers by current trends. How will Congress and BSP even work out a seat sharing arrangement. I find it hard to see Congress settling for anything less than 35 and Mayawati giving Congress more than 20, if that. And even if such a scenario does work out, BSP and Congress don't really need to do anything on their own when SP is doing all the dirty work for them. What's clear is that if BSP goes to the elections alone, they will be the biggest losers in a polarized vote.
Even in the Durga Shakti case, there were reports that Congress was going to make razing of the mosque wall in a village a huge issue, but before they could mobilize support, Akhilesh suspended Durga Shakti and wooed the muslims despite strong and non top criticism in the media. Remember that a COngress neta had first complained to the authorities about the 'illegal mosque', http://www.financialexpress.com/news/durga-suspension-up-congmans-complaint-started-mosque-row/1152733 http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/congress-cash-on-durga-shakti-issue-demands-contruction-of-bigger-mosque-in-the-village/1/298865.html See the irnoy, one congress neta complains about the illegal mosque, the other wants it reconstructed and meanwhile Sonia Gandhi asks for justice for Durga Shakti!! Classic case of "chitt bhi meri, patt bhi meri"
Sure they are hedging their bets and playing politics. They are no saints. It's just that if and till they can work out an arrangement with the BSP a polarized electorate in no way benefits them.
Every political party is playing its cards in UP including the BJP.
Can you make some Modi supporters on the forum admit it?

I m sick of seculars, feckulars, siculars, ****ulars.. A string of stupid posts. I would ask the so called "seculars" to go get a life instead of jumping around here blaming whoever they hate. RIP 21 people. Not sure how many are actually innocent..
Some jumped to rush to blame some dude sitting miles away in gujurat. Now getting fingers burnt badly as more less biased facts come out. Embarrasing how the secular moral guardians rushed to blame Modi. Made themselves look rather foolish and totally bias

very true. now 31 people dead. Looks like one can say anything rubbish in this thread, other than the actual riots. Yeah, the terrorist hindus have "riot"ing against the peace loving muslims. They were non-violently trying not to indulge in fight.

Diga? Do you have a link? This is unbelievable. 45 ak47 sieged. Who were possessing them? Whats happening in this country? mango people who are peaceful possessing so many guns? For what? Are they planning to kill 1000s??? I think more intelligence need to be gathered and search every house, office, temple and what not. If 47 found then there could be 100s of these in that area. Where do these guys get them from? :wall: ak47
