Sachin shouldn't announce his retirement after the "200th" test in Mumbai... It'll look such a stage managed event (getting a lowly WI team to help him a 100 or two as a bonus) and he'll appear like a glory hunter, hunting for records nobody's bothered about... He should either retire before the 200th or not retire at all and keep playing...

This is what I am talking about. Fecker is willing to ruin his reputation (tarnished already) for an inexplicable urge to stick around when he has become the laughing stock getting out to trundlers and no-name spinners. Sandip Patil needs to drop his aasss or else he is going to stick around like a sore thumb. But I know no one in the selection committee or BCCI has the balls to do it.

Well he might not average v high in following matches but for me even decent runs scored in overseas conditions are much more valuable than scoring double hundreds in SC, n Sachin still has the technique n all n is more likely to score some runs on greentops than one of the youngsters. That shud be the only purpose of keeping sachin arnd, if he doesnt score any runs on next tour to SA / Eng / Aus then maybe think of dropping him.

He has barely scored 2-3 50s even in SC in last 10 test matches leave alone double century.

No but I wasnt talking abt his double centuries rather the cartloads of runs that other Indian batsmen keep scoring in SC compared to the paucity of runs overseas. That was my indication with a regard to Sachins potential to score some valuable runs on greentops which other less experienced players are unlikely to achieve.

Sachin Tendulkar will play his 200th Test during the home series against the West Indies in November. It could possibly be the last of his career as retirement is looming, like it or not. Talk about world cricket’s grand departure has surfaced days after chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil met Sachin Tendulkar to discuss his future. Patil told Sachin Tendulkar that after his 200th Test, it will only be his form and not his past record that will matter when selectors pick the team for future Tests, it is learnt. Those in the know say that days after the West Indies series was finalised, Patil spoke to BCCI chief N Srinivasan seeking clarity on Sachin Tendulkar. The 40-year-old has had a lean run on the field over the past few months. In his last 12 Tests, he has scored only two 50s, and his last Test ton was in Cape Town in January 2011. “Patil spoke to Sachin Tendulkar and made him understand the entire scenario. He even told him about the selectors’ plan for the next one year and how they were looking to blood more youngsters,†one selector told The Indian Express. With a number of youngsters waiting in the wings, the selection committee wants to give promising talent a chance. “We have got a bunch of youngsters and they all have been performing well. No one can question Sachin Tendulkar. What he has done is remarkable but we also have to look at the future. We have several talented players waiting to get one chance to prove themselves,†the selector said. The last time Patil spoke to Sachin Tendulkar was on the eve of the ODI selection for the Pakistan series in December. Patil is said to have made it clear that Tendulkar had outlived his ODI career, and that they could not guarantee him a place, especially keeping the 2015 World Cup in mind. Sachin Tendulkar announced his ODI retirement the next day.
