Rahul Shukla- is he as fast as Umesh Yadav

Well said , I think genuine quick bowlers shud be picked early coz generally their careers are not very long like other skills based bowlers and they can only bowl fast as long as the body allows it. So country needs to take advantage of that period properly coz quickies are a rare commodity.

Genuine quick bowlers are always picked early in every country even if they do not have too many skills. They are picked before they lose their pace after rotting in FC cricket for long. Generally' date=' bowlers with less pace who depends on pure skills are not picked early because such skills take time to develop and mature. Likes of Balaji, Irfan, Munaf, [b']Sreesanth had played a lot of FC cricket before they were picked for national team.
he was quick for Indian levels..easily as quick as Rahul.

Rahul looks a strong unit. He has suffered too many injuries but one thing I gathered from listening to players like Shaun tait is that Rahul is a fitness freak. I'd love to see him play for India -a team. It seems our selectors are selecting bowlers only from India -a team. If unadkat can make the make the cut for Indian -a team, y not shukla? It seems there is no lobbying for jharkhand players these days..

Where did you listen to Tait?
He was talking to commentators in between overs from the dug out. I think it was against the Auckland team when shukla picked 3 wickets in his first over. Tait was saying that Rahul shukla is a fitness freak and he is always doin something.

Umesh has shown that he has the ability to bowl 138 to 148 k even in tests. Unless we see Shukla in the longest format, it would not be possible to form a proper opinion about Shukla's speed. As of now it seems that he has the ability to bowl fast spells. He hits the deck hard, bowls with a lot of effort and hurries batsmen. I would like to see him included in the A teams and zonal teams. It is sad that he is not playing for East Zone now.

Shukla is faster then Sreesanth any day, he can bowl even faster as he bowls more coming back from injury,Sreesanth rarely bowled above 140 k, he was for most part 135 k in test, I believe if he stays fit he can be India's talented fast bowler, he bowled 146 A along with Suyal in IPL.

yeah they say in domestic right' date=' have often heard...never saw him hit 149 like sreesanth did though...[/quote'] Not just in domestic cricket. You have not watched his first test series. He bowled seriously quick against England. He clocked 145K in test match. I never saw Sreesanth clock that in test matches. His yorkers and bouncers were pretty good. and before he could show his pace to everyone, he changed his approach and started concentrating on line and length when Chappal advised him. That was the worst thing happened to him and he never returned back to his ODI self. He still can bowl 140K but his approach is now does not let him bowl too quick. His approach has gone worse.

Dont compare test speeds with t20. Rahul is future, sreesanth is not a cricketer but when he was he was pretty quick. 2w-RaJjumLo

Sreesanth was quick in 2007-8, when those clips were taken. RP Singh was also quick in 2007 too. In the ODI series against Australia in India, they both bowled consistently over 140kph. It was quite a sight to see. I think injury prevention and rehabilitation has a big part to do with pace. Even Munaf Patel bowled occasionally over 140kph in the 2011 World Cup because he had been free of injury for a while. As for rehabilitation, Brett Lee bowled a very fast spell, over 150kph against England Lions in 2009, before the Ashes series and he had just come back from an injury. Similarly, he was near his quickest in the ODI series after the Ashes (in which he was injured), bowling around 150kph. Our bowlers come back from injury and bowl at reduced pace. This is not a good thing. Most injuries should mean a bowler comes back stronger, having been able to spend time in the gym away from competitive cricket schedule. Compare this to Indian bowlers who are always at their slowest after injury. The fact that Shukla is a bit of a fitness freak will hopefully bode well for him staying free of injury. His action seems pretty good on the injury front, other than the bend away at point of delivery. Most bowlers, with the exception of Lee and Steyn, do that though. It is when you do it to the point of De Lange, that there can be serious trouble.

along with Suyal in IPL.
I think Suyal will have a lot of injuries with his action. Shukla, on the other hand, I think has the action to bowl consistently at 145kph if he stays injury free.

Suyal obviously has a good action for generating pace, because he does generate pace. But I think he leans away too much at delivery. Just my opinion of course.

Suyals injury is described as a freak knee injury , not related to his bowling, he has a good balanced run up and action, he pivots a bit which is normal and pretty good, Unadkat and Mithun come to mind when we talk about bad injury prone bowling action

Plus, didn't he always lack an aggressive approach to his cricket??.......The only time he is aggressive is when he dismisses no-mark domestic batsmen in the IPL or when he is abusing a team mate for not stopping boundaries of his rubbish bowling......

The main reference I am going off is the thinking behind changes like this. https://twitter.com/Ponty100mph/status/344345660620935168/photo/1 The more upright you are, the less your back is pulling you a different direction to your arm. I'm not one to talk though because I've had a bad side strain on and off for two years now.

Suyal doesn't have a mixed action, when he jumps and pivots his body is in line and aligned yes, does he land well and has a good finish to his action landing foot and follow through Yes, In fact his action is pretty good, rarely does a bowler not pivot also he seems to have a quick arm and a strong core .
