randomGuy Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 TBH i don't rate RSS that much' date='lol at the mass base,RSS and SS are national nuisance they are only capable of organising attack against minorities in some north Indian states.SS is a Hindu nationalist party and they have presence in many states[/quote'] You are under wrong impression, rss is a national organisation with a mass base. And its a nationalist organisation. For ex. In dellhi I can tell, they have many shakhas, shivirs etc , many dedicated swayamsevaks, many donors, many offices. I think that's true for many other states as well. I have been to their shivirs, they do not believe in fascism. Its something that's been planted in peoples heads by media and by rival political groups.
rkt.india Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I have been to their shivirs' date=' they do not believe in fascism. Its something that's been planted in peoples heads by media and by rival political groups.[/quote'] Agree.

But, they also provide armies when riots break out. It's a well known fact.
randomGuy Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 That's true, they are organised well. But, they also provide armies when riots break out. It's a well known fact. Armies? And yet, nearly equal no. of casualties have happened frm either side in hindu-muslim riots/communal incidents in last few years. Its not RSS, its individuals associated with vhp and bajrang dal who get involved in riots. And most rioters do rioting in the heat of the moment, they aren't associated with any org. Like in mujaffarnagar, assam etc.

The extremist ones will get to play a role in riots joining VHP and Bajrang Dal cadets. I am not saying everybody from RSS go about rioting, but a small percentage do and there is no denying in that.

How is rss ideology to blame if some person who was a member joined vhp later and took part in some riot? Shinde accused rss of running terror camps, you are only one step behind with what you are saying.
GautiMaan Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 British Police. They missed their flights in 1947. Its the malabar police da:poink:

I didn't say they run terror camps, some people who joined RSS at a young age have a chance of going radical. Why is that a overstatement?
Zanjeer Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I'm from Gujarat. I can tell you that RSS is definitely capable of communal riots big time. In 2003, its an open secret that they were involved in riots. In 2003, after the godhra incident Rss held a rally in ahemadabad to protest against the train burning incident. Modi is accused of asking the police to keep silence when they resorted to violence. He asked the police to let the RSS to vent their anger in that protest. Rss definitely played a big role in the riots. Having said that, I'm disappointed with the media on the train burning incident as well. Its no secret that godhra Muslims burnt that train . There are various Gujarati news channels showed a pile of stones at the train compartment door which was thrown to stop the karsevaks from getting out of that bogey. None of the English news channel showed it. Right now, RSS in Gujarat is huge. The lower members of the RSS are from scheduled tribes and few lower castes led by a higher caste Hindus.
jalebi_bhai Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Kasaragod is one place where a lot of illegal racketeering takes place......don't know if it is a hot bed for terrorists but there is a possibility......

I didn't say they run terror camps' date=' some people who joined RSS at a young age have a chance of going radical. Why is that a overstatement?[/quote'] I will tell you my experience. Started going to shakhas from 7th class(didnt go after 10 th class) where we used to play different sports(kabaddi, kho kho, ghodi etc), do prayer at the end and come back. Occasionally there used to be talks by some of the senior members, sah-bhojs, shivirs, once a year gurudakshina. In the talks, they will mention kashmiri pandit situation, article 370, Christian missionaries, need for Hindu unity etc, never provoked to do violence. Id say people are expected to become aware of important issues, disciplined, respecting( they call each other with a 'jee'), sociable if they join RSS from a young age. Given the history of this country, its present neighbors, its internal divisions of religion, caste and languages, the relevance of an RSS type org is very much there.

You will never be told to become violent or against any religion or kill Muslims and Christians in RSS camps.
ravishingravi Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 Agree. You will never be told to become violent or against any religion or kill Muslims and Christians in RSS camps. Maybe not in the maisntream. But there are some fringe elements which are definitely anti muslim.
Raghav_12 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Maybe not in the maisntream. But there are some fringe elements which are definitely anti muslim. True. RSS definitely bring some communal angle in thinking of their wards. Though no doubt they primarily remain nationalist, but there is unmistakable over-emphasis on hindu-ism which may eventually lead to some kind of extremism. But holding RSS responsible for these extremist elements is not justified. Every ideology/movement has it's moderate and extremist proponents, be it communism, nationalism. Holding whole movement responsible for some of the elements is not justified. One thing which should be noted that RSS always gets involved in any case calamity and disasters. When Tsunami happened, my friends who are part of RSS, travelled all the way from MP to Chennai. RSS helping groups were present during recent Kedarnath calamity as well.
rkt.india Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Maybe not in the maisntream. But there are some fringe elements which are definitely anti muslim. Yes. RSS is a Hinduism-based organization where there is no place for any other religion in its activities but another truth is it does not spread hate for other religions. There are other organizations likes VHP which are extremist, but VHP isn't an RSS.

To me RSS, philosphically and politically is logical counterpoint to the Congress / Left. Unfortunaely, they have not done a good marketing job and probably have not been able to control all the fringe elements.

To me concept of cultural nationalism is great idea to unify India. If that is Hindutva, then it should be kept out of ambit of religion.
