saneindian Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Bring in a pujara or a technically sound player. There are enough big hitters within his indian side. Basically you want Rahane for Raina. Not happening :--D And the Indian ODI side is not Arsenal. WC, CT, ICC No 1 rank, best w/l ration in last 2 years amongst all sides. Arsenal would love to have such a record :P

WC, CT, ICC No 1 rank, best w/l ration in last 2 years amongst all sides. Arsenal would love to have such a record :P Rahane is an opener in the odis. The only way he is failing if another mumbaikar fails. I am neutral in that regard. Pujara fits the bill as a middle order bat who can provide the steel needed in the middle overs. and yes the Indian side is not arsenal because sandeep patil has changed a hell of a lot. Looking at the team that took part in the 2007 world cup and the 2011 there have been multiple changes. One of the reasons why we have failed to reach the semis in the T20s is because we have adopted an Arsenal mentaily there. Dhoni should have been replaced in that format. Same for the tests. We have been chelsea with our players. Lets continue to be chelsea. You cant just see players not measuring up and do nothing. Better a pessimistic and than optimist.
express bowling Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 We need someone at no.4. who can play pace bowling . It is not that difficult to understand. That someone is neither Raina or Rahane.
shortbread Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 The board needs to carefully nurture this boy, Hes a very good long-term prospect as a WK-batsman. He should be in every away tour the A team makes rather than the likes of Kartik, Parthiv, Saha .... He will have his failures but the boy is only 19, will definitely get better with time. Its not as if India is overflowing with outstanding WK batsmen. Hopefully as soon as Dhoni steps down from tests he can be drafted in.
King Tendulkar Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 The only thing is not sure how good his keeping is, maybe more of a back stop. Not sure He is not keeping in this U19 tournament, Bains is. Also noted in last few first class games did not keep either If does have handy gloves they should make him keep everywere, only way to improve
Old guy Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I think he is too good of batsman to keep ..in future he will make team on batting alone but now is to the time From what I have seen he is similar to rohit in shot making let's hope he is more clever than him

Not sure..............If does have handy gloves they should make him keep everywere, only way to improve[/quote'] He must keep more often and improve. This is where the board should step in and help mould the boy. We cannot carry a baggage around in the batting line up in the name of WK duties. It alters the balance of the side, a good WK/batsman is a must for any good cricketing team. For far too long (80s-90s) India struggled without a decent keeper batsman, lots of swapping & changing. For all his shortcomings Dhoni is at-least some use with the bat, especially at home and in limited overs cricket. BCCI should start thinking of a replacement now. If Samson steps up to the role, the boy can represent India for atleast the next 10 years.

Should male a progress. After Dhoni, he will be one of the contenders as WK/bat.
jusarrived Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Dont see anything special about him , another overrated hack ...may be as Wk-Bat for ODIs hes a prospect , but his batting is only slightly better than the likes of Naman Ojha .

So lets start Project Samson.
shortbread Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 but his batting is only slightly better than the likes of Naman Ojha . Samson is 19 and Ojha is 30, and yet if the boy is better than the seasoned campaigner then its good, Like I mentioned a long term prospect. Its better giving him a chance rather than the myriad of domestic keepers in their 30s and are expected to retire in a few years anyway.
