IndianRenegade Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 “We wanted to maintain continuity. It was not a case of playing the last match of the Asia Cup. It was about continuing with the process of preparing for the next tournament. We will be returning here (for the World T20) in just over a weeks’ time and we had to focus on a few things.†He elaborated: “Ajinkya Rahane is a part of the World T20 squad. He batted at No. 4 in the last few matches, but opening has been his natural position. So we sent him to open the innings (against Afghanistan) which allowed him to play his natural game. It also allowed us to have a look at the options available for the next tournament.†He went on: “Rohit Sharma is a player who could be used anywhere. Of late, he has been struggling a bit, opening the innings. But Rohit is an integral part of our combination and we decided to send him at No. 3 to allow him some batting practice in a different situation. Older ball and a spread-out field offer scopes for singles and twos, and we wanted Rohit to rotate the strike to get into his batting rhythm.†So what did we do in the warm up game, in a real t20 scenario when we wanted to maintain continuity? again tweaked the batting order sent Nohit who has s#c#ked @ opening another go and he flunked again. All this crap about maintaining continuity and process... processes should be in place to ensure the team wins, not for the heck of it.
Detonator Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I m the best deep long off catching fielder in the world.
tweaker Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Cooper had given preference to Australian Sheffield series. If his side had reached the final he would have played in the final. How can the Dutch cricket board bend the rules for such players.
Roshanrocks Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 foreign players are allowed in T20 :hmmm: WHy didnt we import any bowlers :hitler:
Austin 3:!6 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Hafeez Alert - Should we open with 2 Right handers against Pakistan? We all know they will target Dhawan with Hafeez as they did in Asia cup. Hafeez to his credit got an amazing success rate against left handers and specially in BD pitches where the ball is turning square Dhawan will be a sitting duck. Remember he also got Gauti out 1st ball in the 2012 Asia cup. We must play to curb the opposition strength and stop giving a free wicket in 1st over. So what you think guys, open with 2 right handers - Kohli and Rohit/Rahane maybe. Your thoughts?
game_changerr Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Try any permutation or combination, india will loose
jf1gp_1 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 would be a shame if we have to make batting lineup change to counter the likes of hafeez the bowler
Cricket_Guru Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Its 20 overs. Your openers got to.be aggressive anyway. So counter attacking is best option Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk
Switchblade Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Rohit has failed for 7 years yet finds a place in the team which is disgusting
Crookbond Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Pakistan won't bowl Hafeez if we came out with 2xRHB openers.
rkt.india Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Rohit has failed for 7 years yet finds a place in the team which is disgusting Yes, the ARSOL is a sloth and as inconsistent but failed for 7 years is a bit to harsh, averaged 55 in 2010, 38, in 2011, 50 plus in 2013 in ODIs.
Khalpat Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I guess better option would be, to study the bowling of Hafeez and ask Dhawan to give more time during net practice playing similar kind of deliveries. If possible provide him expert advice and ask him to open and counter Hafeez with positive attitude.
black_death Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 If we have reached a situation where we have to plan against Hafeez :headshake:then certainly we are not winning any match in this world cup
