baffling Hopeless team announced Worst fear( inevitable yet) has happened : ISHANT included - how many more tests and ODI would it take for our selectors to realise that it has been a waste of chance(for other deserving candidates) and time (for us viewers). MAN THIS GUY HAS SOME MYSTICAL CHARM JADEJA rested due to shoulder strain (mindless exertion on heartless ODI wickets the reason no doubt about that) VERDICT : Going to miss Our most effective spinner in the last few tests. AMIT MISHARA included. VERDICT : looked pathetic yesterday with those lollipops. Those who are crying for his inclusion in the test squad just look at his first class record for the last few seasons and its plain and clear DRAB indeed as he doesnt have the zip to trouble even first class batsman of the pitch which has been proved umpteen times. still remember with horror his last outing for INDIA against England and all those tossed up freebies. The sad thing is our selectors never shows any foresight or imagination while selecting the team. Amit misra is just a 20 20 bowler. SMALL MERCIES : NON inclusion of RAINA. VERDICT (after his century against Soth Africa A on a patta wicket one was waiting with trepidation whether he would be included in the next test squad and the selectors were right on track to do it until MITCHELL JOHNSON intervened and thanks mitchy for this small mercy. SHAMI As i said earlier our selectors just go by some odd performances and they just dont keep track of peformances over a period of time and potential and if that was the case ISHAWAR PANDEY would have been the first pick as a pace bowler to this squad. He was the stand out bowler during the whole A tour to SA and back home against WI A side also where SHAMI clearly struggled to make an impact. when will our selectors realise that Test matches and ODI are totally different and this is more true in the case of bowlers. ISHWAR is more suted to the longer format and he is inform bowler at present in INDIA and the most consistent too. VERDICT ON THE PACE PACK The selectors have selected Four pacers who have had no first class form or experience for the last few months ISHANT : -------------------- UMESH : Clearly struggling with his rhythm and if the selectors were wise they would have given a few more matches with the ranji side. A test match is not the place where you would want to sort out his problems. SHAMI : Already mentioned Bhuvi : Still unproven and going into the match with no first class form or experience in the recent times. RAHANE : Deserves a long run so no issues ROHIT : With jadeja not available it would be a toss up between him and Rahane for the 6th batsman spot MISSING OUT : ZAHEER for those who just watched his second iininggs bowl against Haryana with those mesmerising Reverse swing JUST ONE QUESTION WHAT THE HELL HE IS DOING WITH MUMBAI TEAM.

Patil & Co. by not picking even one out of Zaheer, Bhajji, Gambhir and Sehwag 9(despite the first 3 being in decent form) have also perhaps sent a message loud and clear to the seniors. They are not going to look back and for any of the seniors to comeback, they will have to perform consistently in domestic cricket scoring truckloads of runs or taking lots of wickets. Will not be surprised if Yuvraj too gets dropped from the ODI side vs WI if he fails again in the last ODI.

WhAt a gift for the windies' date='our best bowler is injured.[/quote'] left armers might not work that great against WI as they have too many left handers in Gayle, Powell, Darren Bravo, Chanderpaul, etc. Should have picked Bhajji, an off spinner, instead of Mishra.

Ojha was a better bowler than Ashwin vs WI last time they toured. Likely to be the same once again as Ashwin is struggling but Ojha has been taking wickets. A lot though depends on the pitches. Hope no pattas

R Ashwin (India) 3 6 170.0 22 504 22 6/47 9/128 22.90 2.96 46.3 2 0 PP Ojha (India) 3 6 177.2 38 450 20 6/47 7/109 22.50 2.53 53.2 2 0 Both had similar records. Ashwin had a bit better SR. Ashwin was MOS too, I think.

Difference is Warne was a big turner of the ball.

Half of Ashwin's wickets were of the tail while Ojha mostly picked the top and middle order. Watched both bowl at Kotla and was not difficult to figure out who was bowling better. Ashwin got the MoS because of the additional runs he made.

Dhoni will go with 5 bowlers given his fetish for Jadeja. So, either Rohit or Rahane will feature in 11. Mishra is not a muck with the bat, in the 2011 Eng series he was better than ..ahem...Tendulkar and Laxman.
