What can we take away from this series ?

We are being very harsh on our bowlers. BK, Jaddu, Ashwin did decently given the conditions, Shami coming back nicely gives us added strength. Umesh on bench and Aaron coming back from injury gives us more hope.

Lets see today's performance Shami 52 for 3 Ashwin 51 for 2 BK going for less than 6 on this pitch Jadeja with 3 wickets Only bowler who sucked was Vinay Kumar who went for 101 in 9 overs. So clearly all is not that bad

We are damn good at chasing and under pressure regardless of target. Our Openers are settled for the foreseeable future.Rohit has definitely come into his own Raina can't bat at four and only one of Raina Yuvi should be in the XI and that too at no.6 for WC Should try Pujara/Rahane at no.4 in SA tour Despite all the criticism Bhuvi Shammi Jadeja and Ashwin have all performed very well considering the conditions and Aus batting strength. If u remove the figures of Ishant and Vinay look at our bowlers figures they have out bowled Aussie bowlers comfortably. And finally Ishant and Vinay should never ever play for India inany format again

Now, if this batting attack is competing with and beating this line up Rohit Dhawan Kohli Raina Yuvraj Dhoni you know there is a problem. So that is where perspective is critical. We played second string team which has now become first string. Far from one of the better batting attacks in the world. Also, I emphasize, the lack of consistency and brain freeze our more experienced bowlers showed in the series is cause for worry. I don't remember Aussie batters digging yorkers out for sixes. Heck I don't remember Indian bowlers trying to bow yorkers.

Corrected. Btw in 2009 we lost against a 2nd string Australian team as well. Also, I don't think this is a second-string team but rather a 2nd rate team on paper. As a unit, they are pretty good.

Other than Clarke, no one else will get into that Aussie batting line up, Warner may be once he's sorted out his attitude issues. And as many have pointed out, for all the criticism, this bowling line up has shown it can hold its own in favourable conditions. Sham's emergence has given us options. There will bviously be a few changes for the next ODI series

He didn't take wickets but contained the runs and yeah forget shami..he bowled brilliantly :nice: 3600+ runs scored with one match getting abandoned and one innings getting washed out.

the two batting lineups were just too strong, probably they are the 1 and 2 in terms of batting strength presently ...its bad that the pitches were piss poor to boot and it was too tough for the bowlers of either side to do any thing against these clearly above average to gun batters in these kind of pitches.

their domestic cricket is competitive with only a few sides and they face 140 bowlers frequently. their weakness is exposed against spin on SC conditions in test conditions aussies never had much problem in ODI in india except occasionally. they are all world class talents for odi atleast n they will be a world class team in the future only voges does not convince me enough but he is a good player. voges and bailey are very highly seasoned and in their 30's. hughes has played more tests than rohit and dhawan! only faulkner really looks young.maxwell is finding his groove.they are reasonably experienced at tough FC level and a tours. i knew they wud be tough. but the real absence is cummins, pattinson and hazlewood. these three are champion material. mckay and siddle are good bowlers but they are no champions. allrounders like faukner and watson and mckay are very much hittable.that's the reason we won. it won't be easy if australia fields top class specialists alone as in the past. if australia makes the mistake of selecting too many allrounders, their bowling will suffer outside australia.
