What can we take away from this series ?

1) You cannot have a batsman, who cannot play pace, batting at any of the top 4 slots in an ODI. We need someone like Pujara replacing either Raina or Yuvi. 2) You need someone bowling quick in your attack, even in an ODI. Johnson and Shami proved that. 3) Target is to get someone with pace + skill. Shami showed what is possible. He has been the find of the series for me. 4) Don't take a pacer who has neither skill nor pace [ Vinay ], or is dumb and lacks skill [ Ishant ]. 5) Take a medium pacer only when he is skilled and intelligent [ BK ]. 6) The policy of long rope to selected players work only when the player had potential to start with and not when he is the best sh!t available. 7) Dhoni needs to be less obstinate and stubborn and brush up tactical skills as a captain. 8) Everything said and done, we are a damn good ODI team. Let's enjoy that. There are many match winning batsmen and we are the best chasers in the world. The emergence of Rohit and Dhawan as a solid opening pair in ODIs is great for us. 9) Kohli and Dhoni are two of the best ODI batsmen.

This series was special, like it or not. You do not see many series like this with pure dominance and passion. So it was really not ordinary cricket but extraordinary cricket. Was it because of the players or new rules? That's the biggest question. 1. Imo, the 4 fielders rule is now gonna be a big issue, it's not sustainable to play that. 2. For WC 2015, we probably will have do another lucky draw for our fast bowlers like 2011 WC squad. 3. Too early to call Dhawan/Sharma are our WC 2015 openers. 4. 6 batsman + 5 bowlers combination is not ideal at times.

1) This is the worst bowling attack in the world. False sense of confidence that Champions trophy may have provided has been completely eroded by now. Apart from lack of skill which one now expects, it is mental fragility of that is disconcerting. s.
Any bowling attack will look worst in these conditions. Aussie bowlers conceded more runs than ours. Same attack won us in England and WI. It cannot be just coincident. Our bowling is not great, but give them a bit of a helpful tracks and they will be handy anywhere.

New rules have eaten away at our home advantage.
No. It is about pitches rather than rules. We defeated England with same rules but a bit more helpful pitches for spinners.

Rohit and Dhawan broken most century partnership in a year record of SRT-Ganguly in just 19 innings they played together with 6 partnerships over 100.

OK. New rules make sh!t games out of flat pitches?

India - Dump VK and Ishant. - They have a great opening combination and batting team - They found new bowlers - Ashwin decided to actual bowl decent for once in a ODI - Yuvraj is out of touch but should be preserved ditto Raina - Dhoni needs to be more aggressive with his fielding options Australia - Hard to see Warner getting a gig now. Stacked - Bowlers are great but just not their pitches - Clarke should give up on ODIs - Haddin should be swapped with Wade, Hartley or Paine. Haddin is batting too low and there is really no need for him. - Phil Hughes can keep. As a whole - ICC Rules are stupid - Two ball rule is stupid in India - Hayden is a dumbass - Ravi Shastri must be a robot who has hid the real Ravi Shastri in the Bahamas. - Terrible series if both teams can score a **** load of runs. - Too many matches.

their domestic cricket is competitive with only a few sides and they face 140 bowlers frequently. their weakness is exposed against spin on SC conditions in test conditions aussies never had much problem in ODI in india except occasionally. they are all world class talents for odi atleast n they will be a world class team in the future only voges does not convince me enough but he is a good player. voges and bailey are very highly seasoned and in their 30's. hughes has played more tests than rohit and dhawan! only faulkner really looks young.maxwell is finding his groove.they are reasonably experienced at tough FC level and a tours. i knew they wud be tough. but the real absence is cummins, pattinson and hazlewood. these three are champion material. mckay and siddle are good bowlers but they are no champions. allrounders like faukner and watson and mckay are very much hittable.that's the reason we won. it won't be easy if australia fields top class specialists alone as in the past. if australia makes the mistake of selecting too many allrounders, their bowling will suffer outside australia.
1. lolWut. Australia's domestic is still considered to be one of the best in the world. You haven't seen the pitches and how the conditions and rules work there if you think it is the same same. 2. Best player of spinners minus Haddin weren't playing. 3. Voges is a great player and is needed to keep in check. You can't have sloggers everywhere for whole batting lineup 4. Hazelwood is overrated. Cummins is injured all the time. Patto will not play ODI cricket. 5. Siddle is a champ. If you think he is an okay bowler then you have not been watching the Ashes and the series in Australia and in South Africa with Australia playing 6. Clint Mckay is a beast. These flat ass pitches don't suit him but he is a top tier ODI bowler. I mean if you can get a hattrick of Pietersen, Trott and Root with great bowling, you are not okay. 7. They were hittable because the pitches don't suit their bowling except Watto and Faulkner and they also bowled ****. 8. Australia's bowling is stacked. The Non ODI bowlers - Siddle, Harris, Pattinson and Bird Both tests and ODIs - Watson, Johnson, Starc, Faulkner ODIs - McKay, Coulter-Nile, Hazelwood, Henriques, Cutting State level but still great - Sayers, Butterworth, Hilfenhaus It's stacked. If you read into Australia just by the series and talk about their bowlers. That's just plain stupid as a whole.

1 - No longer true. Read Ponting, Hussey etc. 2 - Who are these apart from Clarke? Dare you say Warner! 5 - Oh yea? Siddle generally has one good innings/match followed by regular deterioration. Same story since 2010 Ashes now. 7 - So when Australians get hit in India, it is the pitches but when India get in hit in Australia our bowling attack is abysmal. Common!

Aussies have an excellent pace attack any format anywhere any era - just need to play them. As on date disagree vehemently on point 2. Nonexistent spin options.
Smith, Clarke, White and Haddin a great players of spin. Only spin bowler stocks are Lyon and Ahmed only and they aren't that great though Lyon is solid.

Project Raina is going to be Project failure in Australia. The fact is India has enough big hitters in the ranks. Get in Pujara at 4 for stability. If Yuvi fails then i think you need to give somebody who can also bowl a bit a go. Cant simply be replaced by a batsman. OR Rohit Sharma needs to start bowling on a regular basis.

exagerration.at best a good player..
5. Siddle is a champ.
6. Clint Mckay is a beast.
same hyperbole. they do not have it in them to be great.they are good players.which is still a signifcant standard. if anyone looking good is great to you, then keep waiting for their nonexistent greatness. it will be a long unending wait :haha:
7. They were hittable because the pitches don't suit their bowling except Watto and Faulkner and they also bowled ****.
great bowlers have made the ball talk in india as well. the basic point is class specialist bowlers will be more penetrative and tougher to compete against in many conditions. australian attack used to be very penetrative with specialist bowlers . these allrounders are less penetrative and more easier to hit in general in most conditions.
If you read into Australia just by the series and talk about their bowlers. That's just plain stupid as a whole.
a figment of your imagination.

This series also tells me that Kohli hasn't matured enough to be touted as an Indian Captain just for now. I hope he will but I have a great feeling about Pujara.

Aussie bowling is crap it is just Indians played like dumb asses in 2011 , if they are kept down they tend to be down unlike Mcgrath and co who could fight back from any stage. Chasing 360 and losing just 1 wicket says all about fricking aussie attack and mj.

Aussies outdid themselves in batting and was nice to watch them play that well especially with a newish team , they need to get rid of Voges though who is their version of Badrinath and Hughes, Bowling wise only Johnson was threatening, Doherty did look ok and seems to have improved.

Project Raina is a "backup" in case Yuvraj is not fit enough to play. Too early to call in anything about Australia. A lot of things were said about the Champions Trophy being in England. Look how it turned out!
