Or what if Shami is bowling at the death and his 7th and 8th overs go for 18 and 23 or something like that? You can plan all you like, but you have got to have some flexibility about those plans. That's the extent of their expertise

Tendulkar_Bhai Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I dont think the last track was a green one..even at the start of the second innings the ball wasnt doing anything but Steyn was! The bowling effort in the last match was better overal, Jadega, Shami and Umesh all did ok but we are missing the quality in the batting, this isnt Indian pitches where you can chose where to hit boundaries at ease and score 100 runs in the last 10-15 overs, you need to be able to score off the new ball especially when batting second. Dhoni scored well 1st game, but Raina, UV and even Rohit are out of their depth. I dont know what we can do for this series, BUT Pujara MUST be selected for ODI's in the future, and I would bring Rayudu for Raina and keep Rahane for UV..but a rubbish decision Rahane got when he was looking good. Also Jadega should be dropped we need a proper batsman as mentioned in that position.

kruiser Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 It was an off day for our batting in 2nd ODI. Shikhar, Virat and Rohit all got out not due to good bowling, but bad shots/ excellent catches. On another day, these strokes would not have found the fielders. I am not a Dhoni fan, but I dont just fall wherever the slope is! Hindsight is always 20-20. SA were 70/0, our pacers had no bite. What's wrong in trying out Raina and Kohli who have broken partnerships quite often? If they had taken a couple of wickets, all the fickle weather fans would have been praising our World champion kaptan for the shrewd move! Couple things I didn't like - not enough aggressive field placements, no communication with Bowlers when they are being hot (at least none that I could see on the tv screen). Still, i would support my team and all the players 100%.. If our fielding clicks in the last ODI, inshaallah we will win that! (1st ODI - bowling failure, 2nd ODI - Batting fail, so 3rd ODI make sure Fielding is good! ) :haha:

Taken off cos no bite apparenlty and raina and kohli instead!! Are you kidding me!

Stick to Our 2 pacers to bowl 6 overs combined in first 35 overs? Bring spin in early again? Or look at SA strategy? Pacers and nore pacers. No part timers. Back the pacers, make them go for wickets and bowl with aggression?
