'Need to have six or seven different deliveries to get wickets in SA' - Fanie de Villiers

If I was ishant Sharma I would be very thankful to dhoni for supporting even after being slaughtered. He should work his ass off and try not to let him down again when he plays. Lets see if he has some shame and gratitude.
I have no question about his commitment. But skillwise and disciplinewise he is way way behind where he should be. He made his debut 6 months before Stuart Broad.

Do you see Ishant Sharma playing a role similar to the one Morne Morkel does for South Africa? Sharma with the long hair? He's not an effective bowler. He's involved too much with his own image. He needs to focus more on cricket. That's why he's in and out of the team. He's got a hell of potential. He's got height, a beautiful action but it's a personality shortage. But he might do well on this tour, mind you. He's the kind of guy in the team that can influence everybody else's performance. He's not a pro-active guy that can help and support, and make the team better. He's one of those self-centred individuals. But you never know.

Our pacers should keep things simple and not go for 7 different deliveries. It will be like class 12 students trying doctorate level stuff.
No one bowls 7 deliveries lol not even the best bowler in the world , no one has more then 3 deliveries , then there can be variations in pace, fannie had two basic deliveries the cutter which was good and then the fast medium he bowled and attacked the stumps, Steyn also works with this, short ball occasionally then the fuller ball which moves a bit, keep it simple and get wickets the trap is to bowl short and short of good length there, Shami bowls the perfect length for SA, Bhuvi will have to bowl a bit fuller and Zak if fit will be good , Umesh if he is bowling well can be told to bowl a mixture of to the body, sucker full drivable balls and avoid half trackers.

You need to read what he said one more time without a defensive mindset. Ishant , in these last 2 years, has made no acknowledgement of his struggles and had the audacity of calling himself a spearhead, which is an insult to guys like Zaheer Khan, Srinath. He starts his own cricket academy, and doesn't even go back to work with his coach Shravan. The idiotic smile he has on his face after every 6 or 4 and the repetition of bowling short EVERY delivery, clearly shows his lack of intelligence and mental makeup. Fanie wasn't being biased. He clearly explains why he thinks Ishant is ineffective. It's true that he sounds bitter about the BCCI, but what he said about Ishant is correct. P.S. Did you see the look on Ishant's face after Shami's 2nd innings burst at Kolkata? He showed an expression of denial and insecurity, while the others were celebrating.
Its one thing to question his work ethic etc , but you cannot call a professional cricketer self centered based on his hair style...in that regard even Virat is also conscious of his looks , in fact all our youngsters.

Sometimes appearance makes an impression on others and Fanie believes that he has no discipline. It's like a kid who has a really messy room. Virat's style and Ishant's style cannot be compared. Virat is one of those dapper, clean freaks who DELIVERS on the pitch when it matters. Ishant's style is really shabby. It doesn't give you the impression that he means business. Of course he isn't making fun of Ishant's appearance literally.

Why did Srinath do better? Srinath was a fast bowler who wanted to pitch it up. He wanted to bowl fuller lengths and not just short of a length, and hear your slip cordon go, "Well bowled, well bowled", as it passes the bat. But that won't get people out. Your fuller-length deliveries will get you wickets. You need to buy people out. You need to have a captain who says bowl a half-volley, bowl full, bowl fuller and I'll set the field for it. Let them drive. The irony.:hysterical::cantstop:
