Who woulda thought? We had so many excuses ready if we had failed : lack of preparation, inexperience, first overseas tour since all seniors retired blah blah blah but this team has risen above all and now is close to beating the no1 Test team in their den that too in the first test of the tour. Hopefully this is a lesson to everyone, incl our own fans to never underestimate us in alien conditions. Hopefully this is the end of the negativity around. Mods don't you dare merge this. :isalute:

Proud of the Team Title says it all.What a performance by our young team. That too at the home of the world no.1 team. No practice games no experience still nearly pulled of a stunning win against the best team in their own turf. And more importantly showed way more fight and pride unlike the meek and humiliating surrenders of Eng and aus tour by our seniors :hatsoff: to this young team and their spirit .

Then Rahane did have a decent game with the bat and Vijay. All others still are livign on the performance of these few players. They need to come to the party soon. Well done team India.

It does, may be I want to post too many things in every thread that I missed out. But I mainly wanted to write about young players who performed. Players who have just come in or were in question. Hence didn't mention Zaheer. I am Zaheer fan, and yes it does count.

Yes...Some very good performances from Virat and Pujara ...Bowlers did OK too except Ashwin..Shami bowled well , Zak and Ishant was good in patches..Vijay did OK , but he has to move forward from his 20's and 30's..He cant be complacent with this performance..Rohit, Vijay, Dhawan and Rahane has to prove they can perform consistently... We were saved by marathon efforts of Pujara and Kohli, so lets not get carried away by this performance..Others need to step up.

I never expected India will give such a fight to the Saffers, so really well done India. We came so close to a win and hence the frustration, if this result was offered before the match every team in the world would have taken it no questions asked. There is no other team that could give SA such a fight in their home conditions!! We need a 5th bowler, a seam bowling all rounder in place of Rohit, my only wish for this Christmas!!

True. India performed as individuals and not as a team. Except Kohli and Pujara, and to some extent Vijay, we looked ordinary with the bat. Kohli and Pujara cannot do this act every time and we will loose heavily when they fail.
