Respect, best offspinner of this decade (not chuckers) Its shocking decision but a good decision though he had cricket left in him. He is a lesson for some indian players who refuse to go even after reaching 40. England will be a,weak bowling attack without him. :hatsoff:

He was great to watch. Probably the second most aesthetically pleasing spinner after Warne in the last 20 years. Loved his classical bowling action. Will be missed.

Congrats Swanny for a wonderful career and all the best for the post retirement life. Sad that the elbow could not take the load anymore, else at 32 he still had a good 3-4 years ahead of him and could have reached 400 test wickets.

Its just weird how quickly English players give up. Have there been any English players who have played past 35-36 yrs? Apart from Stewart of course.. Most of them give up or are axed after 4-5 failures.

This is the type of fallout i was expecting from our seniors when we got shamed 0-8 on the last 2 overseas tours... Instead' date= our legends kept guys like pujara out of the side for whatever reason. Instead of calling swann out for retiring at this time it would be better to respect his achievement as one of the best spinners over the past 6-7 years and acknowledge that he did the right thing.... I remember so many comments on here during our 0-8 drubbing asking for senior players to quit/retire/be dropped etc.... So not sure why the hypocrisy when someone actually does that? I think England's attack is going to take a big hit as he provided them the type of variety that I don't remember England having since I started watching cricket... they mostly had bits n pieces spinners until Swann made his mark on a consistent basis.... Good luck to him and congratulations on a very good test career.

Excellent point, he had character and pride in his performance.Once it went below par he resigned it is not like he was spring chicken. Our Kaptaan and all the senior players who were no spring chicken themselves let the team down so bad during 0-8 and still never showed even iota of remorse.
