Your theory would be watertight as long as the top domestic batsmen played Vinay with comfort time and time again. I don't see much Ranji Trophy so I don't know - but no one could argue with you if the likes of Pujara and Kohli and even Jaffer played Vinay with ease.
maniac Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 Ok Folks hating on me Let me clarify a few things Are Karnataka and Mumbai 2 powerhouse team in domestics-Yes Did I say V.K deserves a comeback-NO(clearly mentioned in the OP) Do I Agree pitch & conditions were conducive to swing and seam-Yes(even Fatty Binny was moving the ball) Do I agree that Mumbai line up bar Jaffer is mediocre-Yes(Also mentioned in my other posts) Now let me explain Most seam bowlers did well in this game....Didn't follow KTK innings just very little but from the highlight packages every Mumbai bowler despite picking wickets looked so ordinary it was sad to see but I will not comment on that as I didn't follow enough. Now I saw Karnataka bowlers bowl- Mithun bowled some Jaffas at a blistering pace of 128 with max of 133 but was overall so bad that it was almost comical as he managed to spray around despite the conditions and having the batsmen on the backfoot-Verdict Poor Now that Sharat guy hit a few balls between 135-139,built like a tank but just after 2 overs his pace would drop to 125-130 it was almost sad.This guy picked up wickets and bowled some beauties but he is not international standard and that is clear to be seen. Now Vinay despite bowling between 125-130 looked almost unplayable most times,Was a brilliant fielder,He was setting up batsmen beautifully and showed brains which i thought he never had from what I saw of him in internationals.Simple.I am not making anything of this up,comeback to me with criticism if you watched his first spell and compare it with other tundlers in the same match. Now all I am saying is let us not blame the selectors or Dhoni for giving this guy a run-Extended run maybe our crticism will hold value but the sad truth is he is looking a class aprt in domestics like it or not. Calling him a quota player or Tenvic contracted player is wrong as he is real good in dometstics-Before you blame me on going by one match,I have seen him a couple of other times too in domestics and was decent there too, over the years and obviously he had stats to back up,yesterday he was brilliant Again read my OP-He deserved most of the chances he got absolutely no doubt about it but he did not make the most of it and he should never be back in the scheme of things but saying he has no ability is completely wrong.

Only excuse one can give is thats its christamas and one glass too many and got carried away. Had a couple of beers cannot lie about that :--D If he comes back and announces a retraction and posts something full of hate for vinnay he may be pardoned- Vinay Kumar has sucked in 'INTERNATIONALS' and it is time to move on

Vinay is a domestic legend like many of similar species Sir Jogi, Ranaji Bose, GaganD singh, etc. And lacks that extra bit in him to be successful at the test level. I did not see Sharath bowled, saw a bit of Vinay. Vinay gets outswing in helpful conditions and was doing the same, putting the ball in right areas, hitting the seam. Sharath can certainly be a good prospect. He is just 20-21, needs to get fitter, a bit too heavy.

All I said was when you see Vinay bowling like that it in Ranji against one of the stronger Ranji sides,it can easily convince the selectors and the captain to back him....I cannot break it down much more for you. Even the biggest Vinay hater here will not say he doesn't try or he is lazy.
