Only 2 Tests but 5 ODIs against NZ?

I thought we were having a full tour against them. Why are there only 2 Tests? If they had to squeeze in the series then they coulda done 3 tests and 3 odis instead of 5 odis. These bilaterla odi series don't mean anything anyway so why have 5 of them at the expense of a Test?

Becoz Odis are far more popular among Indian fans than tests and reducing ODIS would have hurt NZL financially real bad . More importantly we have world cup in NZL next year so reducing ODI instead of tests would have been insane. As for why one test was cut , we wanted to squeeze in the Asia cup before world T20 and with Neo being the broadcaster for both Asia cup and NZL series agreed to not reduce the profit for the lost test to NCB as neo gains far more revenue from Asia cup.

Because honestly most people dont care about tests in India, NZ or for that matter in SA, WI, SL or Pak. Test cricket is an elite sport. Its surviving to a certain extent in Aus or Eng because of Ashes. Its the ODIs or T20s which bring in the revenue.

Which may not even happen if Pak pull out! We should be ready for a series vs Sri Lanka as a filler :((
We should arrange for Ind-Pak test series.

India are scheduled to play three Tests, five One-day Internationals and a T20 International during February-March 2014. BCCI, reportedly, is trying to cut short the series in order to accommodate the Asia Cup in Bangladesh, dates of which are clashing with the tour Down Under.
Its because of Asia cup which might not even take place given the situation in Bangladesh
