Cracks were widening. Batting was disciplined from both sides in the second innings. Ashwins failure for India and morkels absence for SA helped SA and India a bit. Both were short of one bowler. Getting bowled out 47 is not the only indication of pitch being juicy. India made 600 runs in headingley in 2002. First day pitch was very hard to bat. Ball was whooshing around. Even bangar put his down an d played responsibly. Sometimes we have to realize good batting can make pitch look flatter much like good bowling can make a flat pitch look like juicy. thank you for the sanity :bow:

youngindia Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Capetown can be flat ' date='last tour also capetown was nothing like the one aussie faced.Joberg had zip for 2 days after that it just flattened out which the scores of 400+ by both Sa and India show..[/quote'] similar behavior to the test 2 years ago vs aus. in Durban, the side batting on 2nd day suffered as usual and it has been slow for years. so the conditions have been pretty similar to recent years. unless there is sharp turn and bounce,no point talking about dry conditions.it only put our bowlers out of the match. perhaps the worst opinion I have seen from boycott.

Two of the biggest whingers. Who cares. The way our batsmen left the ball was such a delight. I am pretty sure Boycott would not have survived one over against such hostile bowling on those pitches. England would have been rolled over for 50 odd runs. Funny thing is in one dayers only guy who struggled against Steyn was Rohit Sharma, he also struggled in Tests lol. Dont think Rohit struggled against Steyn in test. He just mishudged the ball which could happen on any bowler. He played Steyn very well in 2nd innings.

I don't know if he followed Indian cricket closely at any point, but he certainly hasn't been watching the Ind-SA series. The pitches were not minefields, but they weren't flat. The Indians batted well, and also bowled poorly. SA batted well, and at times bowled poorly. But the pitches themselves were well-balanced.

Did the last time when he toured SA, did against Steyn in IPL. He is the poorest among our batting line up when it comes to knowing where his off stump is. He is so indecisive against outswingers. I thought M Vijay would be the one struggle. But he looked remarkably assured .
