Ishant sharma pick though was dumb, extremely dumb. Its really hurting us badly. Rahane was playing his first ODI in sometime and was out to a stunning catch,Dhawan scored a few runs and so did Dhoni. But everyone knew how to get Raina Out.Bowl short and he goes. Nohit Tailunt played another selfish knock. Jadeja is as good as a tailender these days and he and Ashwin both cant play overseas as we cant afford to play 6 batsman and 2 spinners. Ishant is **** Look at this and you will see that we are pyramiding our problems.

I thought they both bowled well, except Jadeja got smacked for a few towards his latter overs. Jadeja is usually miserely with the ball, but he is definitely not an all rounder...Nope. The issue is with 3/4 pacers and 1/2 spinners we have a looong tail of 5 wickets. If we had one more useful batsman today we would have crossed the line. G_B_ Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Yes no doubt Raina has huge structural problems. There are fundamental issues with him. It was even the same in the IPL on green pitches or pitches with seam. His IPL record is masked by cashing in on flat pitches

Forget Pujara, Rayudu did well in Zimbabwe series. Why was he not given chance?
Pagalpanti Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 In form Gambhir should replace Rohit right away. Rohit is such a slow starter. If he doesn't convert his start to a 70-80 score it will almost always set back the team in a big way.

Clearly that strategy is not going to work outside the sub - Replace Ishant sharma. I will go with Dhawan Rahane Kohli MSD Rohit Raina Binny Ashwin/Jadeja Bhuvi Shami Aaron that will be my team for the next match

But really has struggled even technically in the past three odis he has batted. Just not confident.

Actually, neither did Laxman but he had a lot of other attributes which Rohit does not have like doggedness. As for Dhawan, he has done enough in his life to enamor himself to patriotic Indians. Otherwise he was, is, and will be a hack.

As i said in another thread, revert to Rahane who is an opener in the odis and has opened in the shorter formats for most of his life. He probably wont give you a flying start but am confident he will give you a stable start which does see of the new ball

Number Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Jadeja at no. 7 is a big risk. There were always doubts about his technique but sometimes his attitude itself is so wrong. From someone who has a great record in the domestic games, should at least take the responsibility, show some self belief and fight than just being a clown with the bat. Today's match in the position he came in, he should have contributed to get us closer. Either Dhoni should tell him to work on his batting or he goes to no. 8 just as a spinner. With Binny on the bench and Rasool waiting for his chances, Jadeja's place should be under threat.
